EG29028 CASE# 25-7979 OATS OF COLLI r�510NN + 09/13/25 14:32 L1 NARRATIVE 25-7973 This incident was captured on my body worn video camera. This report is a summary of events that occurred and is not an exact sequencing of events. Statements have been paraphrased and summarized. On 09-13-2025 1 was working as a police officer in a fully marked, department issued uniform, patrolling in a marked police vehicle for the city of Renton. At approximately 1434 hours I was dispatched to an injury accident at the intersection of Duvall Ave NE/NE 4th St, City of Renton, County of King, State of Washington. I gathered from the call notes, there was a two-motor vehicle collision east of the intersection and no injuries were reported but airbags were deployed in one vehicle. Dispatch advised the vehicles involved were a silver 2017 Toyota Corolla (license plate#BXD8514/WA) and a silver 2006 Lexus RX (license plate#AKU5426/WA). I arrived on scene and observed the collision that blocked the number two lane of westbound traffic on NE 4th St just east of Duvall Ave NE/NE 4th St. I observed the Lexus had obvious front-end damage with major paints scrapes, the front bumper being bent off the frame, and the hood of the vehicle bent which slightly exposed the engine. The Corolla had obvious front passenger side damage with the front of the Lexus still being compacted with the front passenger door. Also, the front passenger door was so damaged that it was unable to be used in any normal capacity. The driver of the Corolla was later positively identified as Antaeus J. Robinson (DOB 09-23-1997) via WADL, and the driver of the Lexus was later positively identified as Brandon P. Nguyen (DOB 12-31- 2007) via WADL. Robinson had no complaints of pain or injuries, and Nguyen had no complaints of pain but had a minor laceration on his right arm. Later, Renton Fire Authority (RFA) arrived on scene and tended to the involved parties. Nguyen advised the following occurred: Nguyen was in the number two lane on NE 4th St and drove westbound towards Duvall Ave NE/NE 4th St. Nguyen saw that traffic was backed up at the number one lane but he had the ability to continue to drive westbound in the number two lane. As Nguyen approached near the building of"Jersey Mike's" he observed the Corolla drove in front of him suddenly and had no idea where the vehicle came from. Nguyen attempted to avoid a collision by slamming on his brakes and steered his steering wheel to the right. Ultimately, Nguyen then collided with the passenger side of the Corolla. I spoke with Robinson, and he advised the following occurred: Robinson had just left Dairy Queen, and was in the left turn lane facing eastbound on NE 4th St. Robinson had signaled to make a left- hand turn to enter the QFC parking lot area. Robinson observed that the vehicle in lane one came to a stop which created an opening for him to pass through. Robinson did not see any vehicle in lane two, so he started to make a left turn to enter the parking lot. As Robinson entered lane two to pass through into the parking lot, he was suddenly struck by the Lexus. The proximate cause for this collision is that Robinson failed to safely use due regard when yielding to the right of way of the Lexus who drove westbound on NE 4th St. Robinson provided me with his WADL, expired vehicle registration (EXP: 01-22-2022) and had expired vehicle insurance. Nguyen was able to provide me with his WADL, vehicle registration, and vehicle insurance. I had both parties exchange their information with each other. I advised Robinson that he would receive a Sector citation in the mail for Failure to Yield When Making a Left Hand Turn (RCW 46.61.185.1), Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Valid Insurance (RCW 46.30.020), and Failure to Renew Registration Greater than two Months (RCW46.16A.030.5.0). I provided the case number to both parties. I took photos of the collision and uploaded it to evidence.com. This concludes my involvement in this case.
