NARRATIVE
On 09/24/2025, 1 was working uniformed patrol in a marked police car as 3R23. At approximately
2226 hours, officers were dispatched to an unknown injury collision, which was initially reported to
have occurred on NE 4th St/Hoquiam Ave NE. The actual collision location was closer to NE 4th
St/Jericho Ave NE, which is located within the city limits of Renton, County of King, Washington.
Dispatch advised that they had a 911 open line with a male and a female talking about a motor
vehicle collision.
When I arrived at the dispatch location, I was able to locate the collision just west of NE 4th St/Jericho
Ave NE. I saw that one of the involved vehicles was facing westbound in the eastbound left turn lane
on NE 4th St. I also was able to locate the other involved vehicle facing northbound on Jericho Ave
NE, just north of NE 4th St. There was also what appeared to be fresh vehicle debris in the roadway
in the eastbound left turn lane of NE 4th St.
I was able to identify Unit 1 and Unit 2, respectively, as described above. Unit 1 was located on NE
4th St, facing westbound in the eastbound turn lane of NE 4th St, and Unit 2 was just north of the
intersection, facing northbound.
I was able to speak to the driver and sole occupant of Unit 1. He explained the following:
Unit 1 stated he was in the northbound lanes of Jericho Ave NE just south of NE 4th St, in the
westbound left turn lane preparing to head westbound on NE 4th St. Unit 1 stated that his light was
green and proceeded to make his left-hand turn to head westbound onto NE 4th St. He explained that
he saw Unit 2 in the lefthand turn lane of eastbound NE 4th St. Unit 1 claimed that Unit 2 had veered
from her lane into the westbound lanes of travel on NE 4th St and struck Unit1.
I took a look around Unit 1. 1 noticed that none of his airbags appeared to have deployed. I also
noticed that he had damage to the front driver's side bumper and wheel well area. I saw that his front
driver's side tire was canted inward and appeared undrivable.
Unit 1 stated he was uninjured as a result of the collision. He also mentioned that he was wearing his
seatbelt.
I was then able to speak to the driver of Unit 2. My conversation with her is summarized as follows:
Unit 2 stated she was in the eastbound lanes of NE 4th St in the left-hand turn lane, preparing to turn
northbound onto Jericho Ave NE. Unit 2 stated she believed she had a yellow blinking arrow and that
eastbound/westbound traffic on NE 4th St had green lights. Unit 2 stated she saw Unit 1 in the
northbound lanes of Jericho Ave NE just south of NE 4th St. Unit 2 described that Unit 1 made a left-
hand turn to head westbound onto NE 4th St. Unit 2 said that Unit 1 was successful in his turn, but
that Unit 1 veered into her lane and struck her vehicle.
I took a look around Unit 2. 1 saw that no airbags appeared to have deployed in her vehicle. I also saw
that she had damage that ran from her rear driver's side door panel to her rear driver's side wheel
well, and part of her rear driver's side bumper. I also saw that the rear driver's side tire appeared to
be canted inward.
Unit 2 stated she was uninjured as a result of the collision. She also mentioned that she was wearing
her seatbelt.
I checked city traffic cameras, and it appears there are no cameras that cover the collision location.
Bankers tow eventually arrived and took possession of both vehicles.
Both parties were provided with an exchange of information for their records.
Both drivers left the location once the tow trucks had their vehicle.
Based on the information provided to me, it is unclear who was the proximate cause of the collision.
