TREE PROTECTION ZONE (TPZ) FENCE DETAIL
PROTECTION MEASURES DURING CONSTRUCTION:
1.
Chain link fencing is required around the drip line of
trees required to be retained, or around required tree
protection tracts/easements.
2.
The fence shall be a minimum of 6-feet high.
3.
Steel posts shall be driven at a depth to ensure the fence
remains in an upright position for the duration of the
development.
4.
Tree protection signage shall be placed at intervals of no
more than 20-feet along the entire fence. See link below
for signage specifications.
5.
Storage, fill, excavation, earth compaction, or dumping
of liquids or materials is prohibited in fenced area.
6.
Utilities or impervious surface installation is prohibited REQUIRED
within the tree drip line. SIGNAGE
7. Grade changes are prohibited within the tree drip line.
8. Removal of the existing vegetation within the drip line of
protected trees is prohibited.
9. All areas within the required fencing shall be covered
evenly with a minimum of 3-inches of bark mulch, except
in areas where mulch will adversely affect protected
ground cover plants.
10. For protected trees subject to a land use decision, the
applicant shall retain an ISA certified arborist or ASCA 7
certified consultant to supervise fence installation, DRIVEN STEEL

TREE PROTECTION SIGNAGE INSTRUCTIONS
INSTRUCTIONS:
11. Install tree protection signage at intervals of no more
than 20-feet along the entire fence.
12. The size of each sign must be a minimum of 18" x 24".
13. Fill in the approved permit number on the front side.
14. Plastic laminate the sign for weather resistance.
15. Affix the filled -in and laminated sign to the tree
protection fencing using zip or twist ties, wire, or twine.
16. Place sign on fencing so it is visible to construction
personnel and, to the greatest extent possible, from the
street.
17. Keep the sign in readable condition for the entire REQUIRED
