The Renton High School Replacement and Site Expansion Project site is located within an area mapped by the city as a High Seismic Hazard Area. Renton School District has hired Associated Earth Sciences, Inc. as the project geotechnical consultant. They have confirmed that the site is susceptible to ground motion, liquefaction, lateral spreading and/or surficial ground rupture associated with a seismic event. They have documented the risks and provided recommendations for design to minimize the risks in their Geotechnical Report (September 2025). Their recommendations will require ground improvements in the form of aggregate piers among other special methods. Renton School District will be constructing the project in accordance with the geotechnical engineer’s design recommendations. Therefore, we accept the risk of developing in the unstable areas. Sincerely, Matt Feldmeyer, Architect Executive Director-Capital Planning and Construction Cc: Brianne Tomlin, Renton School District Lisa Klein, AHBL
