NARRATIVE
On September 29, 2025, at approximately 1429 hours, I was dispatched to a two-vehicle collision
with reports of injury at the intersection of Renton Ave S and S 132nd St, within the City Limits of
Renton, County of King, State of Washington.
Upon my arrival, I observed moderate damage to the involved vehicles. I confirmed with the two
drivers that they did not sustain any injuries but requested a medical evaluation just as a precaution.
The Renton Regional Fire Authority (RRFA) responded to the scene for evaluation.
The driver of Unit#1, identified as Jose Pegueros-Nunez, said he was traveling eastbound on Renton
Ave S and approaching the intersection of S 132nd St. Jose stated he was traveling directly behind
Unit#2 and saw that Unit#2 was slowing for an upcoming red light. Jose attempted to stop his
vehicle but was unable to and subsequently collided with the rear of Unit#2 causing significant
damage to the front of Unit#1. Jose said his vehicle slid forward because of the current weather
conditions.
It was raining.
then spoke with the driver of Unit#2, identified as Deborah Lewis, who said she was accompanied
by her front passenger. She was also traveling eastbound on Renton Ave S and approaching the
intersection of S 132nd St. The traffic signal had just turned red, so she slowed her vehicle. When
Unit#2 came to a stop, Unit#1 collided with the rear of Unit#2 causing moderate damage to the rear
of Unit#2.
Based on the above statements, I determined that the Driver of Unit#1 (Jose) is the proximate cause
for the collision due to operating their vehicle too fast for conditions. RCW 46.61.400(1) states that no
person shall drive a vehicle on a road at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the
conditions and having regard to the actual and potential hazards then existing.
I cited Jose via mail for operating a motor vehicle too fast for conditions.
Both vehicles were driven away without further incident. An exchange of information was provided to
all involved parties
