Narrative
On 10/17/2025 at about 1646 hours Jaime A. Contreras-Pelaez called 911 and reported he was involved in a
hit and run collision in the 5200 block of NE 4th St just west of Jericho Ave NE. Jaime was not injured and his
vehicle (Unit 2-2014 Chevrolet Impala with Washington state license plate CHP9690) was drivable. Unit 2 had
minor scuff marks on the rear driver side fender. The suspect vehicle (Unit 1-2003 Mitsubishi Lancer with
Washington state license plate CKJ5621)was driven by an unidentified driver and may have had damage to its
front passenger side bumper as a result of the collision.
Jaime explained that he was driving Unit 2 in the lane closest to the center line headed eastbound on NE 4th
St. Jaime saw Unit 1 traveling behind him in the same lane, and he noticed Unit 1 was swerving in and out of
its lane. The front end of Unit 1 then struck the rear driver side fender of Unit 2, and then Unit 1 swerved to
the opposite lane (westbound lane) stopping along the curb with the front end of Unit 1 pointed west. Unit 1
drove off westbound, and Unit 2 turned around to follow it. Unit 1 turned right(north) onto Hoquiam Ave NE
and then made its way onto Nile Ave NE where Jaime last saw it headed southbound.
Jaime saw the driver of Unit 1 after it struck Unit 2 and spun around to the opposite side of the road. Jaime
noticed the front driver side window of Unit 1 was rolled down, and he got a good look at the driver. Jaime
described the driver of Unit 1 as follows: white male, 20-30 years in age, medium build, short-blonde colored
hair, and a light beard. Jaime said he would be able to identify the driver if he saw him again.
Jaime used his cellphone to take a short video of Unit 1 as he followed behind it. The video clip showed a clear
picture of the rear license plate. Unit 1 was blue in color, but the rear trunk was black in color. Several
stickers were attached to the rear windshield of the vehicle. I sent Jaime an Axon link to upload the footage.
I used my department issued cellphone to take photographs of Unit 2 and the minor scuff marks on the rear
driver side fender of the vehicle. The photographs were uploaded to Axon. I gave Jaime a Renton PD business
card with the case number. The identity of the suspect is unknown.
