Introduction:
We are proposing to develop an approximately 35,000sqft community
center that will serve the needs of our growing community. Our vision
for this project is to create a space that promotes spiritual growth, social
cohesion, educational advancement, and community welfare. This
narrative outlines the proposed plan, the intended purpose of the center,
and the anticipated benefits to the surrounding community.
Purpose of the Community Center:
The primary focus of this center will be to accommodate the five daily
prayers required in the Islamic faith, for both men and women, as well as
offering facilities that cater to various other community needs. In addition
to the prayer spaces, we are planning to include:
1. Classrooms for educational programs, including scripture studies,
youth development, and adult education.
2. Administrative Offices to support the management of the center’s
activities.
3. Pantry to support communal meals and events, fostering unity within
the community.
4. Multi-purpose Rooms that can be used for lectures, meetings, youth
activities, and social events.
Site Layout and Features:
As you are aware - our site is deeply impacted by a wetland buffer which
limits our ability to develop a house of worship on this site. In light of the
feedback received at the pre-app meeting, the wetland buffer will remain
undeveloped. We will be able to provide 20 parking spots on site and an
additional 50-60 spots on a neighboring site, sufficient to accommodate all
community members while ensuring proper traffic flow and safety.
Our proposed site plan seeks to incorporate landscaping that integrates
green spaces to create a peaceful environment for community members to
enjoy.
We will certainly integrate accessibility features that ensure the center is
welcoming to people of all ages and abilities.
Community Impact:
This community center will become a central hub for both spiritual and
social activities, offering a space where members of all ages and faiths
can come together. In addition, the center will provide educational and
social services that promote harmony and mutual support within the
neighborhood.
By building this center, we hope to foster relationships both within and
across the wider community in Renton, encourage personal growth, and
provide a safe space for families to gather and share in communal activities.
We believe that this project will not only serve the needs of our community
but also contribute positively to the broader local area.
Zoning and Design Considerations:
Our design team has carefully reviewed the zoning requirements and
local development codes. We are committed to ensuring that the project
complies with all relevant regulations and standards. We anticipate
addressing the following key considerations during the pre-application
process:
1. Building Height and Setbacks to comply with city regulations.
2. Parking Capacity to ensure it accommodates peak usage times.
3. Stormwater Management and environmental sustainability features.
Conclusion:
We are open to working with the city and relevant departments to address
any additional concerns and ensure the project aligns with community
development goals. We are attaching a detailed wetland study of the site
for your review and we hope we can find a way to address the wetland
buffer impediment.

center that will serve as a beacon of unity and support for generations to
