Dear Sir:
It has come to our attention that a minor controversy has arisen
between our Inspector and your forces during the relocation o, your
facilities necessary to ace osmodate construction of the above-mentioned
project.
We have investigated this proble.n and our 3ndings disclose that
o••� Inspector has been informing your people at various times that they
are performing work which in not covered by the aforementioned agreement,
and, unless written authorization is received from this office, you Will
not be reimbursed. He is doing this as per our instructions and merely
as a matter of information to the City that work is being performed that
in not covered by the agreement.
We have discussed this type of thing with you many times before,
and I am sure that you understand that any work that was omitted from the
agreement, either by mistake or from lack of knowledge of the facility, can
be covered *ly a request for an L.ctra Work Order or Supplement. This does
not mean that work is performed first then permission granted, but rather
that authority be given prior to performing any work. In cases of emergency,
thin may be handled by a telephone request to this office, and - erbal per-
mission will be granted and confirmed in writing shortly theree. :er.
have alwaya had excellent cooperation from the City, and especially
,ith your department, and we feel that our Inspector is helping you by
informing you of these omissions rather than letting you proceed, and at
some later date the State refusing, to reimburse you.
