From the very start me had trouble w]th valve., leakl.ng by.
went all day Thursday trying to get a teat, aft�x using a
leak detector as a listening device I found that the valve on the
seat aide of .wnest was leaking by. I turned it } turn at a time
aid finally -ot it to h Id. OKed the usher asction at 11:00 a.m.
(Hood teat).
Tested bottom section this afternoon including the work done
by city crews. Ran it up to VO lba, it dropped 13 lbs. in 15
minutes. I figured we had a valve leaking by so I had h.m lower
pressure to 1001ba. (static head in 145). reasuro raised 3 lbs.
in 15 mi'iu so ;:rovi:, that one of the 'Jue valves was leaking by.
Beets were ta;coa at 106 lbs. over work:iag ;rec.oure with booster
station working.

Specifications will conform to the "Standard Specifications" for Municipal
Public Works Cons' action, prepared by Washington State ;hapter of American Public '
Works Association adopted by the City of Renton.

1. All cast iron pipe, gat, valves, fittings and appurtenances will be furnished
by the Jity of Renton : sill be stockpiled job site for installation by the
contractor. All other :,..,,,erial not provided for, but clearly intendee w.11
be furnished by the contractor at no extra cost to the City of Renton.
2. Prior to construction, the 15 foot wide easement shall be cleared, grubed and
as+ to a ressonable grade. After construction the 15 foot wide strip shall bs
leveled and planted with a grass need suitable to help erosion of the holding
soil.
3. The Contractor shall be responsible for notifying the Gas Company, Power Company,
and Telephone Company when he plans to start construction.
4. The Contractor sbaJ maintain (2, lanes of traffic open before 9:00 o'clock
A.M. and after 3:M o'clock P.M. on Sunset Boulevard Fast. Dum-ing construction
from 900 o clock A.M. to 3:00 o'clock P.M. (1) one lane of traffic shall be
maintained. Barricades are required while having (2) lanes of traffic open
and flagman will be required while having (1) one lane of traffic open.
5. Special attention is directed to Section 73-2.07D "Compaction of Backfill
Under Special Coniitions". This section will apply to the backfil', of this
project.
G. The price per lineal foot for installation of -,10 pipe shah' Include the grass
seed and planting of a&=, and no extra compensation will be allowed.
7. The City reserves the right to award either or both schedules to the parties
or party which would serve the interest of the City Jest according to the
judgement and in the discretion of it's City Council.

(3) If the Contractor rofuses or fails to Wroeocute the work or w V Part thereof,
with such diligence as will insure it- zom)letion within the time specified in this
contract, or any extension in writing thereof, or fails to complete said work within
such time, or if the Contractor shall be adjudged a bankrupt, or if }e ts,*u11 rake a
general assignment for the benefit of his creditors, or if a receiver -?;all be appointed
on account of the Contractor's insolvency, or if lie or any of his sub-contractors
should violate any of the Provisions of this contract, the City may then serve written
notice upon him and his curety of its intention to terminate tiie contract, and unless
within ten (10) days after the serving of ei.ch notice, such violation or non-compliance
of any provision of the contract shall cease wil satisfactory arrangement for the
correction thereof be nude, this contract, shall, upon the expiration of said (10) day
period, cease and dcter.dne in every respect. In the event of any such termination, the
City shall immediately serve written notice thereof upon the surety and the Contractor
and the surety shall have the right to take over arul perform the contract, provided
however, that if the surety within fifteen (15) days after the serving upon it of such
notice of tarminnation does not perform the contract or does not commence performance
thereof within thirty (30) days from the date of serving such notice, the City itself
nay take over the work under the contract and ,)rosocute tte same to completion by
contract or by any other nothod it may dawm advisable, for tho account and at the ex-
pense of the Contrictor,and his surety -tall bo liable to the City for an excess cost
or other damages occasioned the City thereby. In such event the City if it so elects
may, without liability for so doing, take possession of and utilize in completing

said contract such materials, machinery, appliances, equipment, plants and other
propertiss belonging to the Contractor as may be on site of the project slid useful %
therein.
(4) The foregoing provisions are in addition to and not in limitation of any
agar rights or remedies available to the City.

�) The Contractor shall hold and save the City and its officers, agents, servants,
and employees harmlessfrom any and all liability of any nature or kind, including all
costs and legal expense incurred by roason of any work on the contract to be perfozsud
hereunder; and for, or on account of aiy patented or urpatented invention, process,
article or appliance manufactured for use in the performance of the contract, includ-
ing its use by the City, unless otherwise specifically stipulated in this Contract.
(6) Any notice from one party to the other party under the contract shall be in
writing and shall be dated and signed by the party giving such notice or by its duly
authorized representative of such party. Any such notice as heretofore specified shall
be given by personal delivery thereof or by depositing same in the United States Mail,
postage prepaid and registered.
(7) The Contraator shall comence perfornnce of the contract on the
day 19 1, L • and shall complete the full performance of the contract
not later than y5" calendar days from said date of commencement.
For each and every day of delay after the day of completion, it is hereby stipulated

(9) The Contractor and each sub-contractor, if any, shall submit to the City such
schedules of quantities and coats, progress schedules, payrolls. reports, estimates,
records and miscollaneous data pertaining to the contract as may be requested by the
City from tiz:e to time.
(10) The Contractor shall furnish a surety bond or bonds as security for the
faithful performance of the contract, including the payment of all persons and firms
performing; labor on the construction project under this contract or furnishing mater-
ials in connection with this contract; said bonus to be in full amount of the Contract
Price as specified i� Paragraph 11. The surety or sureties on such bond or bonds must
be duly licensed an a surety _n the State of 4--hington.
(11) The total amount of this contract is the am of 7t1
which includes Washington State Sales Tax.
Payments will be -ads to Contractor as specified in the "general conditions" of this
contract.
