Gear Mr. Olsen:
This is in response to our review of the prop :!d mains and fire hydrant
installation at the above captioned location.
Our recommendation for fire hydrant% is as follows:
1. That when hydrants are to be installed in newly built-up industrial
districts the spacing is not in excess of 300 feet.
2. That hydrants in industrial districts be standard with pumper out-
lets and not less than 5-inch valve openings.
This type of risk is considered as extra hazard occupancy and, if the
storage containers have an aggregate water capacity of 150,000 gallons
or more, shall have provisions for an adequate supply of water for fire
protection. Under these conditions we would recommend that arterlal and
lateral mains of adequate size be installed so the required fire flow of
6,000-gpm at 20-psi residual pressure be available.
The city Fire Chief or Fire Marshal should be consulted for arrangement
of water supply and hydrant distribution as to meet the Uniform Fire
Code and other city ordinances in respect to this type of risk.
If we can be of further service in this matter please feel free to con-
tact us.
Very truly your„
