furnish materials and labor required to install a 12" water line with related equip-

from Park Avenue North to Logan -treet North as shown In part on your Utilities
Department estimate sheet for Projecl No. W-283 dated September 7, 1967.

for faulty materials or workmanship. The Contractor shall be under the duty to remedy
any oefects in the work ana pay for any damage to other work resulting therefrom which

City from time to tide.

The Plans and Specifications may be obtained from the office of the
City Engineer upon raceipt of a deposit of $10.00 for each set. The
deposit will be forfeited, unless Plans and Specifications are returned
in good condition thirty (30) days after date of bid opening.
A certified check or bid bond in the amount of five (5) percent of
the total amount of the bid must accompany each bid.
Washington State Sales Tax shall be separate bid item.
The City reserves the right to reject any and/or all bids and to waive

(1) The Contractor shall within the time stipulated, (to-wit: within
calenoar days from date of execution hereof as required by the Contract, of which this
agreement is a component part) perform all the work and services required to be per-
fonaeo, and provide and furnish all of the labor, materials, appliances, machines, tools,
equipmment, utility and transportation services necessary to perform the Contract, and
shalt complete t.e construction and installation work in a workmanlike manner, in con-
nection with the City's Project (indentifieo as No.,r'-<y3 ) for

All the fnreyoiny shall be performed, furnished, constructed, installed, and completed
in strict conformity with the plans and specifications, including any m.d all addenda
issued by the City and he other documents hereinafter enumerated. It ' agreed and
stipulated that said labor, materials, appliances, machine, tools, equipment and
services shall be furnished and the constructior and installation be performed and
completed to the satisfaction and appro,,al of the City's Engineer as being in such
conformity with the plans, specifications and all regc'rements of the Contract.
(2) Tne aforesaid Contract, entered into by the acceptance of the Contractor's
bid and signing of this agreemment, consists of the following documents all of which
are component parts of said Contract and as fully a part thereof as if herein set cut
in full , and if not attached, as if hereto attached:

Special Provisions (Cont.)
7. Special attention is directed to S!ction 73-2.07D "Compaction of Backfill
Under Special Conditions". This section will apply to the backfill of this
project.
• 8. Pavement Restoration- Asphaltic concrete pavement shall be cut with a saw •
and removed without damaging adjoining pavement. No irregular edges will
be permitted.
Asphaltic concrete pavement restoration shall be accomplished in the fol-
lowing manner:
a. Remove the upper six inches of backfill and compact the trench
with a vibratory compactor.
b. Place 4" of 5/8" minus crushed rock and compact with a compactor.
c. Place 2" of Class "B" Asphaltic Concrete in a manner to conform
to City Requirements.
"Asphaltic Concrete Restoration"shall be paid for at the unit bid price
per square yard of trench which shall constitute complete compensation for
cutting, excavating, disposing of material, furnishing and placing crushed
rock and asphalt.
Where cemenL concrete pavement is required, cutting shall be accomplished
by use. of a concrete sawNtten the trench is ready for paving, remove the
backfill to a depth of the adjoining pavement and compact the trench with
a vibratory compactor. Repave the trench with a standard 6 sack mix with K®r
2% Calcium Chloride added. if an asphalt overlay exists the concrete cement
will be brought to the grade of the existinq concrete cement and an overlay
of Class "B" Asphalt shall be placed and brought to existinq grade. "
"Cement Concrete Resturation" shall be f-id fo- at , unit oid price per
squa a yard of trench whi:h shall constitute complete compensation for
excavation, cutting, disposing of excess material , furnishin. and placing
cement concrete and asphaltic concrete overlay where applicable.
All joints will be sealed with hot asphalt liquid where asphaltic cement
is plar-id.
Cold mix shall be )laced in any trench that is not to be restored immediately.

SPECIAL PROVISIONS
1. The Contractor shall obtain and keep in force during the tarm of the contract,
public liability and property damage insurance in corman s and inform to he
approved by the City. Said insurance shall provide coverage to the Contractor,
any subcontractor performing work provided by this contract, and the City.
The City shall be named as an additional insured on said policy insofar as
the work and obligations performed under the contract are concerned. The
coverage so provided shall protect anainst claims for personal injuries, in-
cluding accidental death, 3s well as claims for property damages which may
arise from any act or onmission of the Cor,tractor of the subcontractor, or
by anyone directly or indirectly employed by either of them.
The minimum policy limits if such insurance shall be as follows:
Bodily injury liability coverage with limits of not less thae $100,000 for
bodily injury, including accidenta. death, to any one Derson, and subject
to that limit for each person, in an amount not less than $300,000 for each
accident: and property damage coverage in an amount of not less than $50,000
for each accident.
A copy of the insurance policy, together with a copy of the endorsement
namica the City as an additional insured, shall be provided to the City
within a reasonable time after receivina notice of award of contract.
The contractor shall furnish the City with satisfactory proof of carriage
of the insurance required.
2. The Contractor shall furnish the City, a copy of the "Statement of Intent
to ray prevailing 'Wages On Public Works Contracts". The purpose is to
provide evidence of intent to comply with the prevailing wane r,�puirements
of Chapter 39.12 RC'f.
3. The Contractor shall be responsible for notifying the Gas Company, Power
Company. and Telephone Company when he plans to start construction.
4. All cast iron pipe, gate valves, fittings and appurtenances will be furnished
by the City ul Penton and will be strunn job site for installation by the
contractor -11 other material not prcitded for, but clearly intended will
be furnishes by the contractor at no e;:tra cost to the City of Renton.
5. City forces shall make all connections to existing water mains
6. The contractor shall maintain 2-12' lanes (one each direction) on Park Avenue
North and on North 8th Street at all times. During construction hours (8:30
A.M. to 2:30 P.N. ) traffic may be reduced to one 12' lane by the use of a
flagman on '!orth 8th Street only. The use of barricades and cones are essential
with any partial closure of either street.
