PIPE FITTINGS
Cast Iron pipe fittings 4" thru 12" shall be Clras 250, and 14" thru 24"
shall be Class 150, as per ASA Specification 1,21 .10-i964 (AWWA C110-64).
Joints for fittings shall be Mechanical Joint as per AAA Specification , -
A21.11-1964 (AWWA C111-64).
The above shall hold true unless called out otherwise on the plans or in

FIRE HYDRANTS �.
Fire Hydrants shall he Corey Type (opening with the assure) conforming to -
AWWA C-502-r,3 with a 6" inlet and a minimum M.V.O. of 5". Two 2 1/2' hose r
nozzles with National Standard 7 1/2 threads per inch and one 4" pumper
nozzle with the now Seattle Pattern 6 threads per inch, 600V. tr;rLads, "
O.D. thread-4.875 and root diameter-4.6263, 1 1/4" pentagon operating
nut and openfnq by turning courter clockwise (left) . Hydrants shall be
constructed +with mechanical Joint connections unless otherwise specified
in bid propo;al description.
Fire hydrant7; shall be of Traffic Type and provision shall be made for
drainage of barrel to protect units from freezing. Fire hydrants shall
be such lengl:h as to be suita�le for installation with connections to
piping in trenches 3'6" deep unless otherwise specified. Fire hydrants
shall be IOWA or approv2d equal. Approval must be obtained prior to bid
opening.

GATE VALVES ( 3" thru 12v ) f

Gate valves shad be cast iron body, non-rising stem, full bronze mounted
with double disc gates. All valves shall be designea for a minimum water ,
operating pressure of two hundred (200) pounds per square inch and shall
conform tc AWWA Sl:ecl1lcatinrt 7-500-61 and any subsequent modirictaon there- _ ••
of. Each valve stall be "O" ring typo, provided with a standard square
nparating nut, and shall open by turning counter clockwise (left). The valves
shall be Kill List 114, or Mueller A-2380.
GM VALVES (14' thru 240)
Gate valves shall be of tensile strength cast iron, non-rising stem, full
bronze mounted with double dish gates. All valves shall be designed for a
minimss water operating pressure of one hundred fifty (150) pounds per
square inch and shall conform to AWWA Specification C50C-61, and any subsegs_.nt
modification thereof.
The gate valves shall be for horizontal installaticn on norizontal pipe. The
valves shall be equipped with bypass valves, enclosed bevel gea,irg and greaev
case, tracks, rollers, scrappers, and a standard square operating nut which
shall open by turning counter clockwise (left) .
The bypass valves shall conform to the specifications for 3" thru 12" Oats
Valves.
