This work was performed for Hi-Line Plumbing and Heat!ng, Inc. who was
a subcontractor on the Paccar project. Hi-Line went bankrupt and was not
able to finish their work and we lost several thousand dollars as a result.
We are not responsible fcr Hi-Line's debts and did not assume any obligations
of theirs. We suggest you fiie your claim against Hi-Line with the bankrupt
court as did the rest of the creditors, including ourselves.

Dear Jay:
Following our recent conversations concerning the unpaid bill
from the City of Renton for installation of the water meter
on the above project, 1 enclose copies of:
1. City of Renton letter dated 6/10/74
2. City Sales Bill #3485
3. Meter application dated 3/30/73
Your letter of May 31, 1974 to the City states that their
proper course of action is to file claim against Hi-Line in
Bankruptcy Court. The City, however, will not do this, even
if it is a proper course, but will rely upon its right of
recovery against PACCAR Inc, the owner of the property. By
Washington Statute 57.08.080, the Water District Commissioner
may enforce collection against the owner and may place a lien
on the property, if necessary. As you can see, the meter
application is signed on behalf of the owner by your sub-
contractor, and a claim against. PACCAR Inc exists, which may
cause a lien to be placed.
Under the terms of your contract with us, p u are obligated to
pay all charges for utility connections, to protect us against
any such claims or liens, and to be responsit )e to us for acts
and omissions of subcontractors.

This is to conf'rm our telephone call this date wherein we reviewed with you the -,on-
flict of the installation of the City of Renton v ,ter meter and the planting curb wall
on above project.
We propose to Lridge the wall over the meter box and form a slot in su.,h a way that
the cover of the meter box can be removed.
This proposal was approved verLally by you stating you could see no problem and that
we should proceed in this manner. With this verbal approval we instructed our con-
tractor, Selleu & Associates, Inc., to construct the wall with a slot for the removal
of the meter cover, and he is proceeding on the basis of this verbal approval .
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us resolve this problem.
