Dear air:
Enclosed are two copies of a proposed permit for a watermain in
ot_- Cedar River Pipeline right-of-way between Renton Avenue
Sout,. and High Avenue South. Please have both copies signed in
acceptart:A for the City of Renton, and return both copies to this
office, together with a check for the permit fee of $50. After
they have been signed for the City of Seattle, one copy will be
returned to you.
As discuss:d with you by Jack Herold of our office, there is a
cathodic protection installation on our pipelines that paraliels
your proposed watermain between Grant Avenue South and High Aven-
ue South. Our cathodic protection consultant recommends that you
bond the joints on the watermain in this area to make the water-
main electrically continuous, and install test leads near our
test station. Then, if, following the watermain installation,
tests indicate that our cathodic protection system could possibly
cause some damage to your watermain, it would be a simple and in-
expensive matter to connect the watermain into this system and
eliminate this possibility.
Paragraph 6 of the p(+rmit has been included in consideration of
the fact that Seattle's pipeline franchise will expire in 1981,
and it is expected that there will be negotiations at that time
for a new franchise.
Sincerely,
KENNETH M. LOWTHIAN
