Dear Sir,
Previous to your purchase of the Thunder Hill Apartments an
agreement was made with the Dast owner for his permission to
convert the current, private water system to that of a public
one. Agreeing that the City of Renton would maintain the
system and be responsible f.or the semi-annual flushing of the
fire hydrants. This was agreed to by the owner.
Whe ow,er also agreed to qive the City of Renton a fifteen (15)
foot easement for the maintenance of the water system.
Because of the poor fire flow available for fire protection
Of the Thunder Hill units and construction of an apartment
building southeast of your property being constructed, this
would be a good tim- to improve you: water protection.
I would appreciate a letter of agreement to the above items.

I stopped in at Renton Engineering Department yesterday to talk about anotner job w;
with Run Olson (dater Engineer for Fublic Works Departmcnt). Ron indicated that t .
the Water Superintendent wanted one change made to the drawing. (He wants to install r ,
a tap-ir-tee rather than use the existing tee to avoid draining the water main.)
I've made this change and will hand deliver the mylar back to Renton by Friday a.r. v
While discussing the project with Ron, he indicated that he would like to Know if you
are 3rtively pursuing the possibility of tieing this water line into the Thunderhill
water system. During one of our recer;t conversations, 1 though I recalled that you
indicated that you were working on this.
You might want to call Ron Olson (235-2631) and let him know that the probivn is
I being actively ^eked. Ron aain reiterated to me that the City will participate
financially ir. sy-telr, intertie in order to alleviate a very dangero:s problem.

Dear Mr. Barde:
Linda Grimani of your organization, has asked that I direct this
letter to you regarding the water system of the Thunderhill Apartments.
I am sure you are aware of the inadequacies in your water system, ;s
indicated by the letter of July 31, 1979 from Mr. Ed Wooten, Fire
Inspector for the Renton Fire Department, to your property Manager,
Mr. Greenberg.
The City is asking me to help you as I begin construction of my own
apartment project. The new regulations require a double fed water
system for all new construction and the improvement of older systems
where possible.
As you can see by the enclosed diagrams we are tying into the water
supply on Puget Drive and anticipate tying into Benson Road to the
west. This gives us the necessary double system.
Ron_Olson.of the Engineering Department has asked us to approach you
to tte into your six inch deadend line, which would give both of us
the circular flow and vastly improve your inadequate fire protection
system.
You should contact kon _QISon directly as to the necessary changes that would
be required in your own system as a result of this tie in. It is possible
the improvements would create some reduction in your fire i.isurance
premiums to off set any costs you would incur.
