Please note that the line along the north property line
is shown as a size 12", The Contractors are preparirg
bids based on a 10" pipe. As you agreed, the difference
in cost between the 10" and the 12" will be paid by
the City of Renton.

Dear Jim:
An analysis of the City of Renton's water system has been performed
for the purpose of determining the residual pressures available
while supplying 2000 gallons per minute to fight a fire at the pro-
posed Howar, Cooper cite. In accordance with Insurance Services
Office criteria, the analysis simulates the w,.rer system experiencing
a maximum day water demand with the single l.rgest source of supply
(Well 8) out of service. Additionally, Wells 1, 2, J, the Windsor
Hills and Mt. Olivet pump stations are operating. The altitude valve
at the Mt. Olivet reservoir is closed. Finally, interties with the
Cities of Kant and Tukwila are not included in the analysis.
Results of the analysis indicate that the hydrant location shown
near the southwest rorner of the property on sheet M-2 has 48.7 pat
in the pipeline supplying the hvdrant. This pressure should be used
for supplying the planned sprinkler system. Wing an 8 itch loop
around the property and the hydrant locations on sheet M-2 for the
northrst and southeast locations, the corresponding pressures are
44 and 47 psi, well within the City Fire Department requirements.
An important consideration In performing the analysis is the
suppression of pressure at high ground elevation" in this pressure
Anne. Bear the Valley General Hospital, as An example, the residual
pressure is 24 psi, which 1s acceptable. However, 1f the pressure
were auptressed to 20 pal at the Howard Cooper site, it is probable
that toe pressure near the hospital would drop below acceptable levels.
