• The work Involved under the terms of ,his fM tract Document shall be the
full and complete installation of water mail on Burnett Ave. S. with cross
connectlons to exiting water mains. Murk to include, but not limited to
water mein, casing, fittings, valve assemblies, complete restoration of
all surface material so es not to be a visible distraction. All work shall
be es set forth in the dsslOn drawings and specifications.
• Any contractor connected with this project shall comply with all Federal,
State, County and City Codes or Regulations applicable to such work and
perform the work in accordance with the plan and specifications of this
Contract Document.

the City Clerk, and will be opened and publicly read aloud in the Ath floor

The successful bidder will be required to adhere to the general requirements
and covenents contained in the "STANDARD tOECIFICATIONS FOR MUNICIPAL PUBLIC
(ARKS CONSTRUCTION", 1977 Edition, a; prepared by the Washington State Chapter
of the American Public Works Association.
The work to be performed shall Include furnishing ell necessary labor, materials
and equipment, and performing all work required fc Installatlon of water pipe
and eopurtmances as shown on plans and described to the specifications and
such other work as may be necessary to complete the project, all In accordance
with the plans and speclflc.tlons.
The City reserves the right to reject any and/or all bids and to waive any
and/or all Informality es.
Approved plans and form of contract documents may be obtained at the office of
the Public Works Department at the Municipal Building, 200 Mill Ave. S. , Renton,
Washington, for a deposit of $10.00 each set, plus $3.00 to cover postoge, if
mai'ed. The mailing charge will not be refunded. The deposit or $10.00 per
each set of plans and specifications will be refunded upon return of the speci-
fications in good condition within thirty (30) days after bid opening.
A certified check or bid bond in the amount of five (5) percent of the total
amount of each bid most accompany each bid.
Any bidder who withdraws his proposal after the hour set for the opening thereof,
and before the execution of contract, unless said execution of contract is delayed
by City of Renton for a period exceeding ninety (901 days after the time fixed
for bid opening shall forfeit his check or Bid Bond to the City of Renton as
liquidated damages.
Each proposal shall be submitted only on the prescribed Proposal Form hound
in a complete set of Specifications and Contract Documents.
The policy to the City of Renton is to promote and afford equal treatment and
service to all citizens and assure equal employment opportunity to all persons
based on ability and fitness regardless of race; creed; color, national origin;
sex, physical, sensory or mental handicaps; age; or marital status. This
policy shall apply to every aspect of employment practices, employee treatment
and public contact.

r INSTRUCTIONS TO UDDERS
• 1. Sealed bids for this proposal will be recelwd by the City of Renton at
the office of the Ranton City Clerk, Renton City [wall, until
2:00 o'clock p.m., February 15, 1980.
• At this time the bids will be publicly opened and read, after which the
bids will be considered and the award made as early as practicable.
No proposal may be changed or withdrawn after the time set for receiving
bids. Proposal shall be submitted on the forms attached hereto.
• 2. The work to be done is shown on the plans. Quantities are understood to
be only approximate. Final payment will be based on field mea•.orement of
actual Quantities and at the unit price bid. The City reserves the right
to add or to eliminate portions of that work as deemed necessary.
3. Plans may be examined and copies obtained at the public works Director's
• Office. Bidders shall satisfy themselves as to the local conditions by
inspection of the site.
L. The bid price for any item must include the performance of all work neces-
sary for completion of that Item as described in the specifications.
• , 5• The bid price shall be stated in terms of the units indicated and as to a
total amount. In the event oferrors, the unit price bid will govern. Il-
legible figures will invalidate the bid.
6. The right is reserved to reject any and/or all bids and to waive informali-
ties if it is deemed advantageous to the City to do so.
7. A certified check or satisfactory bid bond made payable without reservation
to the Director of Finance of City of Renton in an amount not less than 5i
of the total amount bid she 1 accompany each bid proposal. Checks will be
returned to unsuccessful bidders immediately fellow ing decision as to award
of contract. The Check of the successful bidder will be returned provided
• he enters into a Contract and furnishes a satisfactory performance bond
covering the full amount of the work within ten days after receipt of notice
of intention to award contract. Should he fail, or refuse to do so, the
check shall be forfe;ted to the City of Renton as Ilauidated damage for
such failure.
B. All bids must be self-explanatory. No opportunity will be offered for oral
explanation except as the City may request further Information on particular
points.
9. The bidder shall, upon request, furnish Information to the City as to his
financial and practical ability to satisfactorily perform the work.
10. Payment for this work will be made in Cash warrants.
