General: Shop drawings and product data shall be submitted in ` accordance with the requirements of Section 01340, Shop Drawings, Product Data, and Samples, and Section 15050, Basic Materials and Methods. 2. PRODUCTS 2.01 PIPE AND FITTINGS A. Ductile iron pipe 1. All ductile-iron pipe shall conform to the current provi- sions of ANSI A21.51. Unless otherwise designated, ductile-iron pipe shall be standard thickness Class No. 52 minimum. 2. Pipe and fittings shall be flanged, mechanical joints or flexible joints as required, as shown on the drawings, or as specified. Unless otherwise shown on the drawings or specified herein, mechanical joint pipe &hall be used for underground installation. Joints of the push-on type may be used instead of mechanical joint pipe, provided it is restrained at bends. tees, and dead-ends, for sufficient distance on each side of the fitting to prevent pulling at the joint during testing. B. Polyvinylchloride pipe: Polyvinylchloride (PVC) material for pipe fittings and couplings shall contorm to ASTM D 1784, Type 1, Grade 1, with 2,000-psi design stress. Pipe shall be Schedule 40 and shall be in accordance with ASTP1 ➢ 1785. PVC fittings shall be socket type conforming to ASTM D 2466/2467. Solvent cement shall comply with ASTM D 2564. 2.02 DETECTOR DOUBLE CHECK VALVE ASSEMBLY A. The detector double check valve assembly shall be an approved cross-connection control assembly per DSHS approved list and shall include resilient seated shutoff valves and test cocks. The double check valve assembly shall include two resilient seated shutoff valves and a by-pass assembly. B. Swing type gravity operated check calve, indicator post valve, fire standpipe, and other appurtenances shall be included with the detector double check valve assembly and comply with City of Renton Water Standard Detail included i these specifi- cations. 2.03 HYDRANT TIE RODS A. Tie rods used to restrain fire hydrants shall be 3/4-inch diameter steel rods and conform to Citc of Renton Standards. 13060-2 ibo3-n3 3. EXECUTION 3.01 INSTA:.LATION OF DETECTOR DOUBLE CHECK VALVE ASSEMBLY A. The detector double check valve assembly with associated appurtenances, including 6-inch standpipe with four 2-1/2 nozzle connections, post indicator valve, and check valve, shall be installed where shown on he drawings and as detailed on the City of Renton {later Standard Detail. The vault shall be installed in a foundation of compacted crushed rock material and a 6-inch PVC drain pipe shall he connected to the now store drainage system. B. Ductile iron piping required to connect the new detector double check valve assembly to the existing fire system piping shall be installed in the most efficient manner permitted .,. after old valves and appurtenances have been removed. Final layout of the piping, including thrust restraint, shall be field verified with the Boeing Representative prior to instal- lation of the new equipment. C. The removal of old valves and appurtenances and the instal- lation of the new detector double check valve assembly shall be completed in as short a time period as possible. The exact scheduling of this activity shall be reviewed with the Boeing RaPr esentativs. 3.02 RELOCATION OF EXISTING HYDRANTS w A. The existing hydrant units including bottom, standpipe and +� noL:..e section shall be disconnected from the hydrant service w pipes and tie rods and relocated behind the sidewalk as shown on the drawings. To accommodate the relocation, 6-inch r« diameter ductile iron pipe and 3/4-inch steel tie rods shall be cut to the required length and inserted between the pre- vious connection point and the new hydrant location. The connection, blocking and setting of the hydrant at the new location shall be in accordance with City of Renton Standards. e. 13060-3 1463-03 3.03 RELOCATION OF WATER .IETERS AND WATER `PETER BONES A. Existing water meters, and water meter boxes are located in the paved parking area adjacent to Rouser Way North. The '- construction of new curb, gutter ai.d sidewalks will require , that the water meters and water meter boxes be adjusted 0 accordingly. Whether the water meter and water meter box are . . located west of the new sidewalk, the Contractor will be required to adjust the water meter box.
