EG38124 CASE# 25-8525 OF COLLISION 10/01/25 16:24 OF CbLLI510N NARRATIVE On October 1, 2025, at 1624 hours dispatch requested that I respond to a two-vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of SW Grady Way and Powell Ave SW, in the city of Renton, county of King, and state of Washington. Upon my arrival I spoke with the driver of Unit 2, identified as Abid Shirzai, and he explained that prior to the collision he was exiting the private parking lot of 1107 SW Grady Way. Abid said he intended on making a right turn out of the parking lot. Once the traffic signal turned greed, he proceeded to make his right turn but was struck by Unit 1 who ran the traffic signal. Unit 2 sustained moderate damage to his front bumper and drivers side fender. Abid was medically checked by Renton Fire, but no injuries were reported. I spoke with a witness identified as Michael Moore. Micheal stated that the driver of Unit 1 ran a red traffic light and struck Unit 2 who was making a right turn from 1107 SW Grady Way. Micheal stated that Unit 1 failed to stop at the intersection while traveling eastbound on SW Grady Way. I then spoke with the driver of Unit 1, identified as Katia Rodriguez-Gutierrez. Katia said she failed to stop at the intersection of SW Grady Way and Powell Ave SW. Prior to the collision, Katia was traveling eastbound in lane 1 of 2. Katia and her front passenger declined any injuries, and her vehicle sustained moderate damage to the front bumper. Katia stated she does not have insurance and will remove her vehicle from the parking lot using a private tow. *It is important to note that Katia has her license suspended/revoked in the 2nd degree. Based on the above statements, 1 determined that the Driver of Unit#1 (Katia) is the proximate cause for the cause of collision as she did not grant the right of way to traffic already in the roadway and underway. Smith violated RCW 46.61.190(2) as every driver of a vehicle approaching an intersecting roadway shall stop where the driver has a view of approaching traffic on the intersecting roadway before entering the roadway, and after having stopped shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle in the intersection or approaching on another roadway so closely as to constitute an immediate hazard during the time when such driver is moving across or within the intersection or junction of roadways. I cited Smith via mail for Failing to Stop/Yield at an intersection causing a collision. She was also cited for not having insurance and having her license suspended/revoked in the 2nd degree.
