NARRATIVE
25-8720 ACC
On 10/8/2025 1 was working as a uniformed patrol officer and driving a marked patrol vehicle for the
City of Renton. I was dispatched to a two-vehicle, non-injury, non-blocking collision near the
intersection of SE 154th PI and Maple Valley Highway Renton/King/WA.
I arrived on scene and located both vehicles and their drivers, both confirmed there was no injury.
The driver of the 2011 Kia Sorento WA/ACS3233 (Unit 1), was identified by her WADL Janet M Hecht
DOB: 6/17/1956. Janet said that she was driving south on SE 154th PI and was turning west (right)
onto Maple Valley Highway. She said that she believed that Unit 2 was in the turn lane to turn north
onto 154th PI as she entered the intersection. She admitted that the sun was in her eyes and that she
saw a blinker on a vehicle turning right believing it was the truck. As Janet entered the intersection,
she collided with the passenger side rear bumper/quarter panel of Unit 2 and the front passenger side
of the utility trailer it was towing. There was no airbag deployment in the Kia. There was damage to
the driver side front door, quarter panel, and bumper.
Gene Meyer Towing removed the Kia from the scene.
The driver of the white Ford F350 WA/C59013S and attached 2017 utility trailer WA/03311AA (Unit
2), was identified by his WADL as Ryan C Zvonec DOB: 6/1/2000. Ryan said that he was in the #2
lane driving west on Maple Valley Highway. He said that his light turned green, and he entered the
intersection. As he was driving west, Unit 1 collided with him. There was no airbag deployment in the
Ford, and it was drivable.
An independent witness provided Ryan with his phone number, I called the number and spoke with
Edward G Tereschenko DOB: 12/24/1996. Edward said that he was one vehicle behind the Ford in
the same lane. He said that there light turned green, and they entered the intersection as Unit 1
began its right-hand turn.
Based on the damage and witness account I cited Janet for RCW 46.61.305 Unsafe Turn-Lane
Change under Sector citation #5A0723028. This citation should be mailed to Janet.
