Hello Nancy,
Thank you for your comments regarding the proposed Valvoline Instant Oil Change project located at 4225 NE 4th
Street in Renton. The City of Renton appreciates the Duwamish Tribe’s review of the proposal, and your
recommendations related to archaeological resources, native vegetation, tree preservation, and dark-sky lighting.
Your request for notification should archaeological work, monitoring, or possible discovery of cultural materials
occur during ground disturbance has been noted. The City will ensure that these considerations and the Tribe’s
role are communicated to the project applicant and incorporated into applicable permit conditions where
appropriate.
We also acknowledge and value your recommendations regarding the use of native vegetation, preservation of
mature and culturally modified trees, maintenance of stream buffers, and implementation of dark-sky-compliant
lighting. These points will be carefully reviewed as part of the City’s ongoing environmental and design review
process.
Your continued engagement in helping preserve and respect the cultural and natural heritage of this area is
appreciated. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have additional information or questions as the project
proceeds.
Have a great day,
MARIAH KERRIHARD, Associate Planner
