At 1225 hours I was dispatched to a report of a two-vehicle collision in the intersection of Shattuck Ave S and S 6th St Renton/King/WA. I arrived on scene and located both vehicles still in the intersection, the Passat was facing west, and the Escape was facing north with its front bumper on the Passat's driver side front door/quarter panel. Both drivers advised they were not injured and were able to move the vehicle off the roadway. The driver of the 2006 Volkswagen Passat WA/245ZFW, was identified by his Illinois drivers license as Carlos C Conner SOB: 12/12/2004. Carlos said that he had stopped at the stop sign on S 6th St to turn south on Shattuck. He said that he waited and cleared the intersection before entering where he was struck by the Escape. There was damage to the driver side front quarter panel and door and there was no airbag deployment. Carlos was not able to show me proof of insurance but said since the vehicle is not his, the owner had it. I provided him with my email and advised him to email me the insurance. At the time this report was completed I had not received any proof of insurance from Carlos. The driver of the 2021 Ford Escape WA/A8768724, was identified by his WADL as Daniel E Hernandez-Montes DOB: 2/13/1988. Daniel said that he was driving north on Shattuck Ave S when the Passat pulled out in front of him. There was damage to the front bumper of the Escape and no airbag deployment. His passenger was not injured. Shattuck Ave S is a two-lane road with no stop or yield signs on Shattuck Ave S at S 6th St. There is a stop sign that directs traffic exiting S 6th St to stop before entering. I completed Sector citation #5A0882625 for RCW 46.61.185.1 Failure to Yield Left Turn and RCW 46.30.020 Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Proof of Valid Insurance for Carlos. This citation should be mailed to his DOL address. RCW 46.61.185.1 states: (1) The driver of a vehicle intending to turn to the left within an intersection or into an alley, private road, or driveway shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle approaching from the opposite direction which is within the intersection or so close thereto as to constitute an immediate hazard.
