On November 17, 2025, at 1015 hours, dispatch requested that I contact the victim of a prior hit and run
collision that occurred at the intersection of N 3rd St and Sunset Blvd N, in the city of Renton, county of King,
and State of Washington.The reporting party/driver, later identified by her WADL as Melissa Borchardt
(11/24/1977), reported that the incident occurred on October 30th around 0920 hours.
Upon contact, Melissa explained she was stopped at a red traffic signal in the far-left turn lane of N 3rd St,
facing eastbound at the intersection of Sunset Blvd N. Melissa intended to make a left turn to travel north on
Sunset Blvd N following the turn. When the traffic signal turned green, she proceeded to make her left turn
but, in the process, she was struck by Unit#1. Unit#2 sustained damage to the right front fender and wheel of
her vehicle. She also had a large black streak along her front passenger door. Melissa decided to move out of
the intersection to exchange information with the other driver. When she proceeded to the nearest parking
lot (Wesco), Melissa saw Unit#1 fleeing the scene. Unit#1 was last seen traveling northbound on Sunset Blvd
N, towards 1405.
Melissa believed the collision was non-reportable, so she decided to report the incident online. Her report was
rejected due to possible suspect information.
Melissa described the suspect as an unknown race female in her 30's.
I provided Melissa with my contact and case information. I also confirmed that there are traffic cameras at
that intersection, but video footage is only stored for 3 days.
Due to the information above and time frame in which the incident was reported,there is a very low
probability I will be able to identify a driver in this case.
Due to the reasons stated above,this case is closed "RTF".
