EG52536 CASE# 25-80151 OF COLLISIONS 11/25/25 19:11 OI;COLLISICiN NARRATIVE On 11/25/2025, 1 was working uniformed patrol in a marked police car as 3R23. At approximately 1916 hours, I was dispatched to a blocking accident at Sunset Blvd NE at the NB 1-405 on-ramp, which is located within the city limits of Renton, County of King, Washington. Dispatch advised that a caller reported a 2-vehicle accident at the intersection, which was blocking. I arrived at the call location and found the accident. I was able to identify the 2 involved vehicles and their respective occupants as listed above. I also saw that both Unit 1 and Unit 2 were in the intersection on the southwest lanes of travel on Sunset Blvd NE. I went to speak to the driver of Unit 2. The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle. My conversation with the Unit 2 driver is summarized as follows: Unit 2 stated she was heading southwestbound on Sunset Blvd NE, approaching the northbound I- 405N on-ramp. She stated that Unit 1 had entered the intersection as she was continuing straight down Sunset Blvd NE. This resulted in the front end of Unit 2 colliding with the front side of Unit 1. The driver of Unit 2 stated that she was wearing her seatbelt. She also stated that she was not injured. I took a look around Unit 2 and saw that the entire front end of the vehicle was significantly dented. The front bumper area appeared to be pushing into the two front tires. I also saw that Unit 2's airbags had deployed inside her vehicle. I was then able to speak to the driver of Unit 1. She was accompanied by another passenger seated in the front passenger seat of her vehicle, as listed above. My conversation with the driver of Unit 1 is summarized as follows: Unit 1 explained that she was traveling northeastbound on Sunset Blvd NE, approaching the northbound 1-405N on-ramp. Unit 1 stated she did not see the yield sign. Unit 1 continued to cross onto the on-ramp. Unit 2 was headed southwestbound on Sunset Blvd NE at the same time as Unit 1 was attempting to cross the southwestbound lanes of Sunset Blvd NE to continue on the on-ramp. This resulted in the front end of Unit 1 colliding with the front side of Unit 2. Unit 1 and her front passenger stated that both were wearing their seatbelt. The driver of Unit 1 reported ankle pain. The front passenger of Unit 1 reported no injuries. I took a look around Unit 1 and saw that the entire front end of the vehicle was significantly dented with similar damage to that of Unit 2. 1 also saw the airbags inside Unit 1 had deployed. The fire department arrived a short time later and evaluated all parties. Based on the fact that Unit 1 did not grant right of way to Unit 2 before entering the intersection to continue onto the northbound 1-405N on-ramp and the fact that Unit 1 was required to yield to opposing traffic as indicated by the yield sign at the location, I found that there is reasonable cause to cite the driver of Unit 1 for RCW 46.61.190 -Failure to yield at yield sign/intersection. SECTOR citation 5AO923391 was completed and sent to the prosecuting attorney's office to mail to the driver of Unit 1. 1 also completed a SECTOR collision for this incident. The driver of Unit 1 was eventually transported to Valley Medical Center (VMC) for further treatment, PAGE 3 OF 5 REPORT NO. Unit 1 and Unit 2 were towed by Gene Meyers from the location. Since Unit 1's driver needed to be transported, a tow/impound form was completed for the vehicle. Unit 2 was able to stay on scene and sign for the tow/impound for her vehicle. Based on the circumstances described above, it appears that Unit 1 is the proximate cause of the collision.
