1V. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS/PUBLIC COMMENTS
None.
V. BOARD COMMUNICATIONS
Adrianne "Dri" Ralph was on hand to make a power-point presentation regarding the art
selection proce5s for both the Liberty Park and Highlands Libraries. She showed slides af the
architect renderings/floar �lans of each library and talked about t�e 60* high-caliber artists
tF�at submitted materials. She said there is not much wa11 space at the Liberty Park Library
since the maj�r portior� of the library is glass sa they are faoking at hang�ng and dimensianaE
art. On� of the favorites is Benjamin Moore, wha is widely known in the glass industry as ane
of the best. He has held exhibits at the Tacoma Art Museum, S�attle Art Museum, any many
more locations.
The Highlands Lihrary has more wall space sa they are laoking for art in the children's and
�eens areas, and an area near the stairs, along with other locatians. They have sefected a
few artists to pursue further including Ethan Murrow, Anna Fidler, Kirsten Hassenfeld, and
Enrique C�agoya. They are still in the decision and negotiation phase and no final decisions
have been made.

VI. CITY REPORT/Terrv Hi�ashivama. Peter Renner, Karen Ber�s�ik
Peter shared a few�idefls from one of the weekly construttion meetings and building walk-
thru. He shared ir�farmatian relating#o the structure and beam replacements and painting
and said they have run into a few delays with Yakima Steel but things are progressing. He
said He has heard positi�e comments regarding the construdion team a�d how positi��the
team is and everyone wants to mo�e forward and make progress with t�e best attitudes.
Peter also shared pictures of the site with the group.
Pefier briefly talked about the Highlands lacation and the start of demofition on the Renton
Hausing Authority(RHA) units. He said the construction company will use the RHA
maintenance building as their joi� shack, in turn creating a credit to the cans#ruction casts for
not having to supp�y one to the site.
Terry Higashiyama discussed the Sunset Park and sai�the Council will get a final par� design
review on Monday, October 27, 2014. She said it is the City's intentian to purchase the park
land by the end of 2014. Some of the Cammunity Ser�ices staff will be traveling to O[ympia
to th�Gavernors finance committee meeting in hopes to get this project into the capital
6udget and hoping ta at least get half the parEc built. She said City Staff is going through
grant documents in th� hopes to get funds reimbursed for this purchase/construction.
VlI. KClS FtEPORT FREQ GURNEY
F�ed ad�ised tF�e group the Fairwood Library is scheduled to open December 6, �014,with a
pre�iew party tentatively scheduled for No�ember Z0. Fred said he will submit the Library
Boartf names'to be in�ited to the pre�iew party. Fred continued with infarmation on
difFerent programS and e�ents held in the past month and upcaming events such as Casper
Babypants,who will be at the Renton community Center on October 30 at 1Dam. He also
said that KCLS participated in the City's employee health fair with a baoth and had quite a few
people stop by far information and gi�e-a-ways.
Fred ga�e a brief update on t�e KCI.S director searth and said �hey ha�e three candidates who
will participate in a series of inter�iews in Novemher and then a decision 5hould be made with
a hopeful start date in the next few months.

Terry shared information on a recent article in the natianal published magazine Landscape
Architect regarding Meadow Crest Playground. Diane will email the link to the Board. Terry
also remarked on tentative plans for the Holiday gathering scheduled for December 9 to be
jointly held with the Parfcs Cammiss�an board memhers.
