SUBJECT: Fire Flow Analysis for the Proposed Duplexes
at Maplewood Place SE and SE Sixth Street
Dear Sigi:
This letter summarizes the fire flo. capability of the City Of Renton's
rater sysUu to supply the proposed duplexes at Maplewood Place SE and
SE Sixth Street. A con"ter analysis simulating a fire at this button
was perfonwed for the purpose of deterwinin,g the fire fluty capability of
the City's system. The artlysls was bated upon the existing Renton water
system with the addition of an 8-Inch water Min ext"Sion on the Maple
Valley Highway (SR 169). from SE Fifth Street to Mooroe Avenue $E as shown
on the attached figure.
Results of this analysis Indicate that the available fire flow it the
sitt of the proposed devetopamnt is approximately 1.020 galiont per minute
(9pm), at a residual pressure or ?O pounds per square inch (psi) In the
ma In adjacent to the property.
The fire flow capability for the analysis was based on Insurance Service
Officv's (ISO) criteria, which it used by the Washington Survey and Rating
Bureau, the local reting umpmy. in accordloKe with ISO criteria, the
water system was simulated experiencing a maximum day derand wits, the single
largest source of supply, Mall Ma. P, out of service (I.e. , due to failure,
maintenance, Ott), A summary of the operational Condltlons used In the
analysis is as follow
o Minimum service pressure of 30 psi in the service area during
normal demands and 20 psi during fire demands.
o Walls 1, 2, and S are in operation while Wall B Is Out of service.
o Springbroo► Springs Is tuppiying the systemi at 1.300 s m.
