This letter summarizes the fireflow capability of the City' s System based on the results of a computer analysis simulating a fire at this location. As requested, the first analysis was performed based upon the existing Renton Water System, with the addition oP a 16-inch diameter watermain replacement on Wells Avenue North from North 6th Street, to the existing 16-inch diameter watermain 'n Mothers' Park; and a 12-inch watermain replacement on North 6th Street from Williams Avenue North to Wells Avenue North, as shown in the attached Figure No. 1. Results of this analysis indicate that the available fireflow at the site of the proposed development is approximately 5.235 gpm (gallons per minute) , at a residual pressure of 20 psi (pounds per square inch) in the main adjacent the property. The se_nnd analysis was based upon the existing City of Renton Water System with a 12-inch watermain replacement, along North 6th Street, from Williams Avenue North to Wells Avenue North; and a 12-inch watermain replacement along Wells Avenue North from North 6th Street to Mothers' Park, as shown in Figure 2. Results of this analysis indicate that the available fireflow at the site cf the proposed development is a proximately 5,041 gpm at a residual pressure of 20 psi in the main adjace.-c the property. However, it should be noted that in both analyses the velocity in the existing 6-inch watermain along North 6th Street from Burnett Avenue North to Williams Avenue North is in excess of eight feet per second. Although this flow rate is physically available, there are potentially dangerous and severe consequences associated with allowing that flow rate to occur. Reducing the velocity in the main to eight feet per second at this location results in a maximum fireflow capacity at the site of tht proposed development of 4,968 gpm, for analysis 91, and 4,761 gpm, for analysis M2. 1410 Market Street,P.O.
