VIA: Mayor Clymer
FROM: Lynn Guttmann, Administrator

STAFF CONTACT: Richard J. Anderson,Utility Systems Manager
Ron Olsen,Water Utility Supervisor
SUBJECT: Purchase of Surplus Telemetry Equipment
ISSUE:
The City of Renton would like to purchase portions of the City of Steilacoom's j
surplused Uniface Telemetry Equipment to use as spare and replacement equipment
for our own system.
I
BACKGROUND:
The City of Steilacoom recently changed their telemetry equipment and would like to
surplus their older equipment. This system is identical to our telemetry system, which
is approximately six years old. The Water Utility has negotiated a price of $15,000 for
this equipment. An estimated value of the same equipment would be 660,000 or
more at today's replacement cost.
Atte^hed is a list of the equipment included in this package sale. the sale is for all or • , _
i
nothing. The only equipment we will probably not use are the four sewer lift station
master units. All the rest can be used as replacement parts. The equipment has been
inspected by the Water Maintenance Section and found to be in good condition.
The purchase can be accomplished by interlocal agreement, which releases the City
from the bidding requirements. There are sufficient funds in the Capital Improvement
Telemetry Account for this purchase.
