From previous documentation, this project requires fire sprinkler coverage as well as three hydrant protection due to the building construction type, volume, setbacks, etc. . The three hydrants as provided; one directly north and adjacent to project site, one directly across Carr Road (south) from project site and one new hydrant to ' he west have been approved by the Fire Marshall for Fire Protection coverage. As the project requires 3,500 gpm Fire Flow (3,364.33 rounded upward) three hydrants are required to provide the fire flow at a rate (King County Standard) of 1,250 gpm each. They may be on one or separate systems. However, each pipe system must be able to supply , Ach hydrant to the 1,250 pgm rating. Therefore, the eight (8) inch ?ine servicing two hydrants on site must be capable of 2,500 qpm water capacity. Again, I appreciate your assistance in this regard. From our discussions of water bressure and flow rate restrictions to the Talbot Road supply, Randy has uncovered a Field Flow Test to the one existing (dead end) hydrant located due north of our site (see enclosed plan) . This report, dated last year, identifies the hydrant as NF212 with an unrestricted flow of 3,500 plus gpm. Given the 8 feet/sec. City flow restriction, the eight inch line is capable of 2,500 gpm.
