I The revised Whirs will be submitted to the City for.nprovaj prior to the construction of the waterlines. _ Darrell could not authornx the installation of new hydrants instead of rebuilding the existing ones and retest them to the City's requirements. This change needs to be worked out on a higher level between the City mid DOT. Apparently the contractor's bid for a new hydrant is$3,000 and only about VW to relocate and rebuilt the existing ones Dave Putman told me that for The S-curve project, (le City water mainienmee department has refurbished the hydrants for the State at no cosi, even though the agreement between the City and DOT does not require the City to do such work. After discussing this matter with YOU,we will lei the contractor for DOT rebuilt the hydrants and retest them to specifications. The installation of an additional Will"tee Arid valve at the relocaed 16 ioch waterline will be done if the City pay for the additional work. This change was suggested by Ron Olsen during(le resubminal of the plans. After haling discussed This mailer with you,we decided not to install the lee mid valve and go with the original design to cut mid cap the existing waterline as shown on the plans. 1 will inform Darrell to delete this additional work. The State will obtain all easements for the waterlines that we outside the right-of-way. The revised mylars will have a P.E.slump on them prior In the approval of the plats by the City. Renton,WA 98055 "object: 16" and 12" Watermaln Relocation at Maple Valley Highway Scope of Work Dear Ron: Thies letter Identifies the proposed scope of work and an estimate of the engineering expenses >v associated with relocaaag a portion of existing 12" and 16" watermain near Maple Valley Highway. The mains present utility grade conflicts with the DOT I-405 freeway reconstruction project. The relocation is necessary to provide vertical clearance for a proposed stormwater main that interferes with the existing water main alignment. The interfering water mains were not shown on the original base plans supplied by the DOT for this project. Our work will result in three plan sheets showing plan, profile and details of the water mains. The design will include vertical 90 degree bends and a thrust restraint combination of restrained joint pipe and deadmian blocking. The restrained joint pipe design wiU be based on Griffin "Snap-Lok'" and Griffin "Holt-Lok" piping products. We recommend that on-site rutting and fitting for this pipe not be allowed. - = . .:.. .;. RH2 Engineering will provide the following engineering services: Meet with DOT and City staff to walk the site and pick-up survey data provided by the DOT.Prepare a base map showing the edges of the existing paving, the alignment of the existing 12 inch and 16 inch mains, existing utilities marked by the one-call locating service or shown on survey data provided by the State DOT, and the alignment of the proposed storm .e er. The base map will be based on site notes provided by the City of Renton and on survey data provided by the DOT for this work. The base map will also show the limits of the p;pc relocation.
