Renton City Code for sewers, Section 8-5-6, Paragraph 2, stipulates: "The sire and slope of the building sewer shall be subject to the approval of the Utilities Engineer." The policy of the City of Renton is that building sewers be installed at a minimum of I% slope. However, due to utility conflicts that existed, the City allowed this project to install its building sewer at 1% slope with the condition that a Sanitary Sewer Grade Release be pro%ided. This requirement falls within the intent of the City Code and is typically ,.squired of all developments with building sewers installed at lees than 2% slope. It is understood that the building sewer ins:.,lled has been engineered to meet the anticipated flows for this project; however, it is the City's policy to require a Sewer Grade Release due to the increased risk of blockage of the building sewer as a result of the flatter slope. Therefore, you have two options at this time: 1. Accept the requirement of the Sewer Grade Release, as originally required to allow the 1% slope building sewer; or, 2, Abandon the existing building sewer and install a new building sewer at a minimum 2% slope and upon acceptance by the City of Renton, the City will unrecord the Sanitary Sewer Grade Release.
