WATER ■ Pipe and fitting materials shall be as specified on plans. ■ Thrust blocks shall be plywood formed and shall be inspected by the City prior to backfilling. ■ Polywrapping of pipe will not be required unless high resistivity is encountered in the soil. ■ Native backfill will be allowed onsite if determined suitable by the City of Renton, if not suitable, Contractor shall import select backfili for trench. ■ Backfilling of watermain within the right-of-way shall consist of 100% 5/8" crushed rock. ■ Compaction testing of backfill may be required at the discretion of the City. ■ Pipe cleaning shall be by the use of polypigging thru vertical cresses. ■ Chlorination of line shall be by injection of liquid chlorine (50 ppm, 24 hour retention, 25 ppm after 24 hour). ■ Contractor shall use a double, check valve assembly and hydrant meter when using an in- service fire hydrant. ■ City will rent a chlorine pump to contractor and assist contractor with operation. ■ Flushing of main shall be into the sanitary sewer only. ■ Purity tests for water are taken on Wednesday, prior to 10:30 am.
