Grady Way - Renton Complex Fire water (FW) Main Intertie Dear Ron: Since November 1989 Puget Power has been involved in efforts to arrange for an intertie of a Fire Water Main on Puget property located at 620 South Grady Way. The Fire Water Main would tie-in to the main on the adjoining property to the east owned by E s H Properties. This intertie was being pursued as requested by the City to provide a second connection in addition to the current Benson Road Fire Water supply. t, Our plans for the intertie with E s H Properties were approved by l Public Works conditioned on obtaining an easement. Puget Power did I not anticipate any problems in this regard since the easement area was a small (3 ft. by 5 ft. ) area. In addition, the resulting mutual benefit of additional Fire water Main supply for both properties would be compatible with City Codes. we have made several attempts to contact Mr. Eugene Horbach of E a H Properties, and have been unsuccessful. Due to the resulting delays, we were forced to cancel the contract with the selected contractor. At this time, Puget Power is unable to arrange for, nor are we able to predict when we will able to make any future intertie because of the unresponsiveness of E i H Properties. However, we do understand that you are willing to contact E s H Properties on our behalf to obtain the easement. Wayne Bressler from our Real Estate Department will be forwarding the unsigned easements to you to take action on soon. Said Facility shall consist of a single watermain, five (5) .. fire hydrants and appurtenances thereto. 2. Prior to any digging performed by Grantee within the area described in Exhibit "A", Grantee shall notify and cooperate with Grantor in the coordination of its activities with those of Grantor to minimize conflicts, insure protection to each party's facilities, prevent hazardous conditions, or min'mize interruption of Grantor's operations. 1. The right hereby granted shall cease and terminate whenev— Grantee shall have permanently abandoned the use of Said Facility. 5. Grantee, its successors or assigns, shall have the right, upon a minimum of one (1) business day's prior notice, at such times as may be necessary to enter upon said above described property for the purpose nf routine maintenance, testing and inspection of said Facility, provided, that such maintenance, testing and inspection of said Facility shall be accomplished in such a manner that disturbance to the existing private improvements and private property shall be minimized. This upgrade of the fire main loop 1 connection will increase the overall reliability and flow capacity of the on-site fire main rvstem SCOPE OF WORK The project will connect the sites existing 6' fire main with a new 8' ductile iron pipe to an existing 8' fire main on the adjacent property ( a,t easement exists that allows Puget Power this connection). The project will include the replacement of one existing hydrant with a r Frw hy' ant and isolation valve. Also, three new 6' isolation valves will be added to the existing or sl a 6" main to improve isolation capability. 1 10' wide utility easement for both existing and proposed components of the fire main and hydrant system will be granted to the City. I ZONING AND COMPREHENSIVE PLAN } The project area at the Grady Way Complex is currently zoned Heavt Industrial (H-1). y The current Comprehensive Plan designation is Industrial. The proposed improvements do not conflict with local zoning or the current Comprehensive Plan.
