This particular project will precede the construction of an 8-inch sewer L.LD.along the same location. Because the sewer main is scheduled to be constructed this Spring and since the intent is that the water main be constructed prig to the sewer main,a SEPA exemption requested to be determined by the end of February to meet the anticipated construction schedule. Approximately 1.120 LF of 8-inch,ductile iron water main will be constructed within the right-of-way in Dayton Avenue NE from NE 20th Street to NE 22nd Street and within NE 22nd Street from the adjacent Warren s Addition Plat 8-inch tie-in to Aberdeen Avenue NE. Since the watet main will be buried at a depth of 3'-0"there shall be approx.692 cubic yards of material which shall be removed and replaced with bank run gravel and 5/8" crushed rock materials within the right-of-way. The construction of this main will include the complete landscape resto ation and street pavement patching as part of the overall scope of work. A vicinity map and project plans are attached. You mentioned that the Shops crews could replace the water main on this street if we could provide you with the design and tnaterials information. The Water Utility is working on the design of the water main and will have the design to you shortly. We mus• have this main replaced and the surface restored (hot patch) before the Sewer contractor begins work. The tentative date for the start of the sewer construction is the end of May. We will keep you posted on the progress of this job. cc Juk Cs .m y R M. "028/Uii/bn I J i a CITY OF RENTON MEMORANDUM DATE: January 26, 1994 1 TO: Lys Hornsby FROM: Dave GaistenscKIA{ SUIVEC17- Dayton Ave.Local Improvement District(LID) As you stir aware,City Council has approved the proposed sewer UD for Dayton Ave. NE(NE 20th to NE 22nd). the Wastewater Utility has begun design work. This project Is on the list for a Public Works Trust Fund Loan. We will, therefore, be working on a schedule that is subject to revision based on the State's time table. We arc currently projecting bidding the project late April or early May and beginning construction by the end of May. is our understanding that you plan to replace the water main in this area. Because the ,,,stallation of these sewers was a citizen request and involves a Public Works Trust Fund Loan and an LID,we would vice to ensure that the sewer work is completed in a timely manner. To meet our goal of a timely sewer project, we would vice to suggest these options for the installation of the new water mains. 1. We could include due watermain replacement as a separate schedule to our project. Our contractor would construct both. Our sewer project will be responsible for the overlay of the street. To include your work in our project, we would need plans and specification materials by March 28th 2. The Water Utility, through agreement with the Maintenance Division, could replace the watermain prior to our anticipated beginning of construction. If Maintenance were to install the watermain prior to our construction, we would expect full restoration of surface improvements and a permanent hot patch of the roadway prior to the start of construction of our sewcr project. Our sewer project will be responsible for the overlay of the street at the completion of our project. 3. The Wale Utility, through agreement with the Maintenance Division, could replace the watermain after the sewer We construction is completed. If the sewer main was installed first, the Wastewater Utility would make full restoration of surface improvements and restore the roadway with a final patch. In order to close the LID and the State loan in a timely manner, the Wastewater Utility would final the project at that stage. The Water Utility would, therefore,be responsible for the cost am placement of the final overlay. In order for us to best plan our project, please let us know your intentions by February 181h. This particular pr.;ect will precede the construction of an 8-inch sewer L.I.D.along the same location. Because the sewer main s scheduled to be constructed this Spring and since the intent is that the water main be constructed prior to the sewer main,a SEPA exemption requested to be determined by the end of February to meet the anticipated construction schedule. Approximately 1,120 LF of 8-inch,ductile iron water main will be constructed within the right-of-way in Dayton Avenue NE from NE 20th Street to NE 22nr"Street and within NE 22nd Street from the adjacent Warren's Addition Plat 8-inch tie-in to Aberdeen Avenue NE. Since the water main will be buned at a depth of T-0"there shall be approx.692 cubic yards of material which shall be removed and replaced with bank run gravel and 518" crushed rock materials within the right-of-way. The constriction of this main will indude the complete landscape restoration and street paver.ant patching as part of the overall scope of work.
