Since Ihcn, we have decided to change the coating system specified in the _ Contract Documents. We arc now specifying a 10W6 solids polyurethane coating system for application to the interior surfaces of the reservoir. The 100.solids polyurethane coaling system is NSF approved for potable water use. i We have revised the Special Provisions section of the Contract Documents to reflect this change. I have enclosed a copy of the revised Special Provisions section for your review and approval. The project is now being advertised for bid and construction is expected to start in late April. The Highlands Elevated Reservoir is the only reservoir that serves the City's 565 pressure zone. While the Highlands Reservoir is out of service,the City will supply the 565 pressure zone through its Monroe Avenue Pump Station. The City will place its Highlands Pump Station on standby to support the Monroe Avenue Pump Station in case of an emergency. In order to provide an additional level of emergency back up supply, the City is asking Water District 90 for approval to construct a temporary,emergency intertie betweel their 645 pressure zone and the City's 565 pressure zone. The intertie will connect a Water District 90 fire hydrant to a City of Renton fire hydrant through a flexible potable water hose. The intcrtie will consist of a water meter, a double check valve backflow prevention assembly and a pressure reducing valve. Please we the attached sketch. We anticipate that the intertie will be in service from mid-April,19%,to mid-June,19%. We would like to receive written approval from DOH to construct this temporary, emergency intertie.
