Re: Archaeology – Professional archaeological monitoring requested
Dear Ian Harris:
Thank you for contacting the Washington State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO) and
Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation (DAHP) and providing documentation
regarding the above referenced project. As a result of our review, our professional opinion is
that the project area has the potential to contain archaeological resources. The proposed
project area is located in close proximity to archaeological site 45KI501 and is also located in an
area identified as “Survey Highly Advised: Very High Risk” on the DAHP Archaeological Risk
Assessment Model. Therefore, we recommend professional archaeological monitoring of all
ground disturbing activities.
We also recommend that the affected tribes be consulted and would appreciate receiving any
correspondence or comments from the tribes or other parties concerning cultural resource
issues that you receive.
These comments are based on the information available at the time of this review. Should
additional information become available, our assessment may be revised.

is shared with any hired cultural resource consultants and is attached to any communications or
