Door(s) Rear Collision 2025-00080377 Paqe 3 OF 5 Case Number 2025-00080377 Officer Narrative Narrative 25-80377 Unless otherwise noted,the following occurred within the city limits of Renton, county of King, state of Washington. On 12/04/2025, 1 was working as a uniformed police officer for the city of Renton.At approximately 0117 hours, I was dispatched to a fire assist at Houser Terrace Retirement, 3151 NE 16th St. Portions of my involvement in the incident were captured on my department-issued bodycam. While enroute, dispatch relayed Renton Regional Fire Authority(RRFA) personnel were requesting police response because their fire engine was struck. When I arrived on scene, I located the fire engine (hereafter referred to as unit 2) and RRFA personnel. None of them were in the vehicle when the collision occurred.The damage to the vehicle included paint transfer and some cosmetic dents along the passenger side of the vehicle. I spoke to a witness, identified as Michael G Mc Laren (02/13/1960—WA DOL photo). He provided me with the following information: He was outside the complex, closer to the roundabout when he heard a loud crunching sound. He turned and saw unit 1 then fleeing the scene of the collision. He did not witness the collision. He described the sound as consistent with that of a vehicle driving over a milk carton. He does not have any suspect information to provide. Officer Rivera spoke to another witness,Jerry L Miller(04/18/1953—WA DOL photo). I received the following summary of their conversation from Officer Rivera: He was outside of the residence on the sidewalk when he first observed unit 1 parked facing west in the spot designated for 15-minute load/unload. At this time, units 2-4 were also already on scene. Initially, unit 1 was only occupied by a single driver(no description). Later, an approximately 45-year-old white male of a thin build standing 5' 7", with dark colored medium length hair, came out from the building.That person then climbed into the front passenger seat of the vehicle. Unit 1 then attempted to wedge its way through between unit 2 and other parked vehicles (+ units 3 and 4); however,this risk resulted in the collision with units 2-4. Unit 1 eventually freed itself, circled the roundabout on the east end of the property, and then fled west on NE 16th St, where it was last seen. It has a sticker that reads in part, "in memory of" in white text on its rear. Two other vehicles were struck by unit 1. 1 did not speak to their respective owners; however, I left behind a copy of my business card (with the case number) and provided them with a brief explanation of what happened. Officer Rivera captured photos of all involved vehicles and uploaded them to the case jacket. Nothing further at this time.
