The following occurred in the City of Renton, County of King, State of Washington.
On 11/27/2025 at about 1719 hours Officer Smith notified dispatch that she had been involved in a non-injury
collision at S 21St St and Benson Dr S. I self-dispatched to handle the investigation.
When I arrived both vehicles were stopped in the#2 lane for left turn only traffic on S 21st St to Benson DR S.
Officer Smith explained that she was following the other driver east bound on S 21st St in lane#2. They began
to enter the intersection, and she believed he was going to continue and make a left turn onto Benson DR S.
Instead, he suddenly stopped. She was unable to stop in time and struck the back of his vehicle with the push
bars on the front of hers.
I contacted the driver of vehicle#2 who identified himself as Si Hu with his WADL. Hu stated that he was
uninjured and not planning on reporting the incident to his insurance. He stated that he was eastbound on S
21st St and entered the intersection to make a left turn onto Benson DR S. He then realized the light had
turned yellow, so he hit his breaks. Hu said the collision was his fault and he just wanted to go.
I could see very minor scuff marks on the rear of Hu's vehicle from the push bars. A bolt on the left push bar
of Officer Smith's vehicle sheared, allowing the push bar to move back into the front bumper creasing it. I
took digital photographs of the vehicles and uploaded them to evidence.com. Officer Smith took digital
photographs of the vehicles positioning prior to them moving out of the intersection. Those were also
uploaded.
I provided Hu a business card with the case number.
This incident was captured on my Axon body worn video camera. This report is a summary of events that
occurred and is not an exact sequencing of events. Statements have been paraphrased and summarized.
