COLLISION
NARRATIVE
ASSIGNMENT/ARRIVAL
On 11/24/2025 at approximately 1529 hours, I was dispatched to a two-vehicle collision in the
intersection of SW Grady Way and Maple Avenue SW in the city of Renton, King County,
Washington.
I arrived at approximately 1533 hours.
UNIT 1: CHEVROLET IMPALA
I observed a silver Chevrolet Impala (WA/ BQF6350, Unit 1) stopped facing northwest on Maple
Avenue SW at the south curb line prolongation of SW Grady Way. Unit 1 had moderate, disabling
damage to the rear-passenger wheel, quarter panel, and bumper.
UNIT 2: KIA OPTIMA
Upon arrival I observed a blue Kia Optima (WA/ CBM1161, Unit 2) stopped facing north on Maple
Avenue SW south of the intersection of SW Grady Way. Unit 2 had moderate, disabling front-end
damage from the collision.
DRIVER 1: WALKER BURR, RENA M.
I contacted Rena M. Walker Burr (DOB: 11/26/2003) standing near Unit 1. 1 positively identified her by
her valid Washington Driver License and established her as the driver of Unit 1 by her admission.
Walker Burr was not injured in the collision.
DRIVER 2: HARMON, JASON A.
contacted Jason A. Harmon (DOB: 09/19/1996) standing near Unit 2. 1 positively identified him by
his valid Washington Driver License and established him as the driver of Unit 2 by his admission.
Harmon was not injured in the collision.
STATEMENT: WALKER BURR, RENA M.
I spoke with Walker Burr about the collision. The following is a summary of our conversation:
Walker Burr drove Unit 1 west on SW Grady Way intending to turn left (south) onto Maple Avenue
SW. Walker Burr waited in the two-way turn lane for traffic to clear. Traffic in lanes two and three
stopped for Walker Burr to make her turn.
Walker Burr slowly accelerated Unit 1 into the intersection, making her turn lane-by-lane. Walker Burr
saw Unit 2 traveling east on SW Grady Way in the number one lane and continued her turn, believing
she had time to make it through the intersection.
Walker Burr was nearly through the intersection when Unit 2's front end collided with Unit 1's rear-
passenger side.
Harmon's statement was similar to Walker Burr's statement.
PROXIMATE CAUSE
The proximate cause of the collision was determined by Walker Burr's statement and damage
observed to both vehicles.
Walker Burr's actions were the cause of the collision, namely her violation of RCW 46.61.185(1),
which states:
The driver of a vehicle intending to turn to the left within an intersection or into an alley, private road,
or driveway shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle approaching from the opposite direction which
is within the intersection or so close thereto as to constitute an immediate hazard.
DISPOSITION
This concluded my involvement in this case.
