Grady Way CALL TO ORDER ROLL CALL Commissioners present: Jayne Ahrens Cassandra Baddeley Ali Cohen Manami Imaoka Camila Lagow Commissioners present virtually: Gabriel Diaz Yanjie Lu Hemant Tanwar Commissioners absent: Daniel Helmer Staff present: Kristi Rowland, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Hannah Miller, ESD Administrative Assistant Maryjane Van Cleave, Parks & Recreation Administrator Jason Lederer, Parks Planning Manager Jennifer Spencer, Recreation Director John Rupp, Parks & Trails Director Alex Lee, Recreation Manager Trey Tandecki, Administrative Assistant Aliena Shoemaker, Administrative Secretary STAFF COMMENTS Page 1 of 3 DCAO Rowland shared her thanks with Commissioner Imaoka for translating for the Nishiwaki sister city delegation trip. She also thanked Commissioner Lagow for input on food vendors issue. November meeting was moved to November 18 due to Veterans Day holiday. We will be reviewing the legislative agenda. Interviews are being scheduled for potential replacements for possible seat vacations. Three seats are set to expire at the end of the year. We will be proposing appointments at a December council meeting. We will schedule a work session in lieu of the December meeting to review bylaws. AUDIENCE COMMENT Those wishing to address the Equity Commission will be called upon. Each speaker is allowed three (3) minutes. CONSENT AGENDA Approval of September 9, 2025, meeting minutes Hannah Miller, ESD Administrative Assistant MOVED BY LAGOW, SECONDED BY BADDELEY TO APPROVE THE CONSENT AGENDA. UNFINISHED BUSINESS NEW BUSINESS Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Plan Update Jason Lederer, Parks Planning Manager COMMITTEE MEMBER COMMENTS Commissioner Baddeley shared that she participated in the World Cup Exercise hosted by Emergency Management and had a lot of fun; she was very impressed with the work and intentionality behind it and with all of the first responders and organizers. Commissioner Imaoka recommended that anyone interested in emergency response should look into Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training. Commissioner Diaz (Jones) shared that he recently got married and has changed his last name to Diaz. He also shared that he recently attended a Committee of the Whole meeting regarding Legacy Square and is very excited about what's to come. Commissioner Ahrens asked about the process for finding and signing up for audience comment at our meetings.
