CASE# 25-80078 OFoLLIsION 11/23/25 06:01 NARRATIVE 25-80078 On 11/23/2025 at 0601 hours, I was dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at Lake Washington Blvd N and N 36th St. in the City of Renton, King County, Washington. The collision was non-blocking and non-injury. It involved a City of Renton vehicle. Upon arrival, I observed the City of Renton vehicle (Unit 2), a red 2008 Chevy Colorado (47828D/WA). The driver and passenger were outside the parked vehicle and stated they were walking up from Kennydale Beach Park after unlocking gates, when they heard a collision. They were not in the vehicle and did not see the collision. The driver: Erendida C. Rodriguez stated no injuries. The passenger: Christopher T. Paterson stated no injuries. Both were told they were being recorded. Christopher said the other involved pulled over, just south of the accident and exchanged partial information and told them she had looked down at a text message, right before the collision. The female driver told both she had to go to work in (3) hours and drove off. Erendida provided Unit 1 as a white 2019 Kia Niro (BSK4496/WA). The driver identified herself as Ashley M. Lawson and provided a valid address, phone number, but no insurance information. Erendida said she believed she smelled alcohol on Ashley, but said she spoke clearly and did not stumble. Nothing suspicious was observed inside the vehicle by Erendida and Christopher. Ashley was the only person in Unit 1 and Erendida said she saw Ashley exit the driver's door. I took photos of Unit 2 to include a dent/scrape on the rear passenger's side fender and what appeared to be a bent rear axle. The photos were uploaded. Gene Meyers was called and completed a tow of Unit 2 to the Renton City Shops. I contacted Ashley at the provided address. 1 observed Unit 1 parked in the driveway with damage to the front passenger's side fender. I took photos and uploaded them to the case. 1 did not observe anything indicating alcohol or drug consumption inside Unit 1. I spoke with Ashley, who answered the front door. She knew why I was there and said she had to work in (3) hours. I asked where she was coming from. She said she worked at a bar and closed. She said she has to return in (3) hours to open. I told her I needed her date of birth, and proof of insurance. Ashley was unable to provide proof of insurance and said her mother has that information, but she was unable to reach her. During our conversation, I did not smell any odor of intoxicants and Ashley was coherent and spoke clearly. Ashley had no injuries. I told Ashley she would be receiving tickets for expired tabs, no insurance and inattentive driving. She said she understood. I provided her with the case number. While completing infractions for the listed violations, I observed Ashley as suspended/ revoked in the 3rd degree. I completed a traffic citation for this charge. Sector infraction/citation #5A0896708 and #5A0896709 were completed and forwarded to the Renton Municipal Prosecutor's Office to mail to Ashley. Based on my investigation, the proximate cause of the collision was the inattentive driving of Ashley, taking her eyes off the road by looking at a text message, which resulted in Unit 1 veering off Lake WA Blvd N and into Unit 2, which was clearly parked on the shoulder, off the main roadway.
