Officer Narrative
Narrative
On 12-10-2025 at 1247 hours I was dispatched to a traffic accident at Talbot Rd S and Renton Village PL in the
city of Renton, King County WA.The call notes stated the vehicles crashed in the intersection but moved to the
parking lot of Triton Towers located across the street.
I arrived on scene and met with Sarah Campbell who was the driver of unit 2, a Nissan Rogue. Campbell told
me the following:
Campbell was in the left turn lane from Renton Village PI to Talbot Rd S to go northbound. Her light turned
green and she began to turn left.As she was in the turn a black Hyundai Tucson ran the red light and hit her
car. She said the Tucson was coming off 1-405 and trying to go straight to Renton Village PL.
I contacted the driver of unit 1, Cheng Chen who told me the following over the phone:
Chen got off of 1-405 and tried to drive straight through the intersection on to Renton Village PL. His light was
green but said it happened very fast.
I spoke with a witness, Riley Peterson who told me the following:
Peterson was in the right turn lane next to unit 2. Unit 2 had a green light and proceeded to make a left turn.
Unit 1 ran a red light and hit her. Peterson said the lane next to unit 1 was green for left turns and felt maybe
Chen got confused and drove through the light because the other cars were going.
Based on the information above it appears the approximate cause of the collision was Chen running a red
light. Both parties swapped information. Both parties were given the case number.
