Officer Narrative
Narrative
On 12/12/2025 at about 1606 hours a non-injury two motor vehicle collision happened at the intersection of
Union Ave NE/NE Sunset Blvd within the city limits of Renton, King County, Washington. Both vehicles pulled
into a parking lot east of the intersection, and one of the drivers called 911 to report the collision. I contacted
both drivers and spoke to them with the assistance of a Language Line Spanish interpreter(#439305).
Karen A. Serrato Rodriguez was driving her 2014 Infiniti QX60 (Washington state license plate CTA9828) east
bound in lane 1 of NE Sunset Blvd. As Karen entered the intersection at NE Sunset Blvd/Union Ave NE,the
rear of her vehicle was struck by the front end of another vehicle (2013 Ford Edge with Washington state
license plate CKH2822) driven by Jose E. Ramirez. Karen claimed the traffic light for eastbound traffic was
green in color. There was damage to the rear of Karen's vehicle, but it was drivable. Karen and her front seat
passenger(Berenice Botllo)were not injured. Berenice did not see what color the traffic light was as they
entered the intersection. Karen was unable to provide proof of motor vehicle insurance, and she admitted she
did not have insurance for her vehicle.
Jose E. Ramirez was driving his Ford Edge southbound on Union Ave NE and stopped at the intersection of
Union Ave NE/NE Sunset Blvd after seeing the traffic light turn red in color. Once the traffic light turned green
in color,Jose continued southbound through the intersection colliding into the Infiniti QX60 driven by Karen A.
Serrato Rodriguez. The front bumper to Jose's vehicle was damaged, but it was drivable. Jose was not injured.
Both drivers claimed the traffic light was green for their lane of travel as they entered the intersection, and
there were no known witnesses to the collision. I am unable to determine which drivers' actions may have
contributed to the circumstances of the collision. I completed an infraction (5A0954139) against Karen A.
Serrato Rodriguez for operating a motor vehicle without insurance (RCW 46.30.020) and sent it to the court to
be mailed.
This incident occurred in the sCity of Renton,King County,Washington State.
