Unless otherwise noted,the following occurred in the City of Renton, County of King, WA.
On 12-09-2025 at approximately 1753 hours I was dispatched to a collision report to be handled by phone.The
collision occurred at NE Sunset Blvd and Duvall AVE NE.
I contacted the reporting party by phone,they identified themselves as Christopher Lajoye. Christopher
advised that on 12-09-2025 at approximately 1740 hours, he was travelling west on NE Sunset Blvd when he
struck unit 1. Christopher advised that unit 1 did not have working brake lights and was unable to see unit 1 in
time to stop. Unit 1 and unit 2 pulled over to the side of the road momentarily and the driver of unit 1 stated
something to the effect of"no comprende",then left in their vehicle northbound on Duvall AVE NE.
Christopher described the driver of unit 1 as a Hispanic male, approximately 5'6"tall. Christopher advised that
unit 1 sustained minor rear end damage and unit 2 sustained front end damage to the light assembly and the
front bumper.
Christopher advised that unit 1 was a silver Acura and provided the license plate WA/CTX9705 which returns
to a silver 2003 Acura sedan.The vehicle is registered to Clemente Gomez Vejar(11-23-1987) who, based on
the DOL photo and physical description, appears to be consistent with Christopher's description of the driver.
I provided Christopher with my contact information and the Renton Police case number.
On 12-14-2025 at approximately 0945 hours I responded to 663 Queen AVE NE,the registered address of unit
1. 1 observed unit 1 parked in the driveway and the vehicle was idling. Unit 1 appeared to have various damage
to the rear bumper, but at least some of it appeared to have been sustained prior to 12-09-2025 based on the
build up of rust.
I contacted the sole occupant of the vehicle, identified via WA DOL photo as Clemente Gomez Vejar
(11-23-1987). Clemente only spoke Spanish, so I utilized language line to communicate with him. 1 informed
Clemente why I was contacting him, and he advised that he was not driving the vehicle during the time of the
collision.Though Clemente was not under arrest, I advised him of his Miranda Rights directly via my
department issued code book. Clemente advised that he understood his right and was willing to speak with
me. Clemente initially insisted that he was not driving the vehicle at the time of the collision and that someone
else was driving, but that he did not know how to explain who was driving. I explained to Clemente that his

explanation did not seem reasonable and that I was led to believe that he was the driver due to him appearing
to match the description of the driver of unit 1 at the time of the collision. Clemente then stated something to
the effect of"I remember now" and admitted that he was driving the vehicle at the time of the collision on
12-09-2025. Clemente advised that he did not have insurance on the vehicle. I asked if he would be willing to
test his brake lights for me and he advised that they do not work. Clemente confirmed his phone number and
mailing address, and I advised that he would be receiving a citation and that this case would be forwarded to
the traffic investigation unit.
Based on my findings, I believe that unit 1's inoperative brake lights were the proximate cause of the collision.
Clemente was cited for hit and run -attended, operating a motor vehicle without a valid operator's license,
and operating a motor vehicle without proof of insurance.
