On 11/19/2025 1 was working as a uniformed patrol officer and driving a marked patrol vehicle for the
City of Renton. I was dispatched to a report of a two-vehicle collision in the parking lot of the
Salvation Army located at 216 Tobin Ave S Renton/King/WA. Dontrice T Gates DOB: 1/18/1977 was
calling to report that a vehicle had hit her unoccupied 2012 Chevrolet Malibu WA/CNL5004 in the
parking lot.
I met Dontrice in the parking lot, and she explained that she had parked and gone inside, when she
exited the store there was a man standing near her vehicle. He asked if this was her vehicle, and she
said yes. He admitted to hitting her vehicle. Dontrice asked for his information, and he said that he did
not have insurance but did provide his license and advised he would pay for the damages. Dontrice
then advised she was going to call the police, and the male got into his vehicle and fled the scene
eastbound on S Tobin St.
Dontrice was able to get a photograph of his license and temporary tag in the vehicle.
The WADL identified the driver as Brian L Lakey DOB: 12/16/1979. The temporary registration on his
vehicle read E90870698.
At the time I was not able to run either name or plate since DOL was unavailable.
A Salvation Army employee provided me with a phone number of 253-518-4086 for Brian but advised
he did not know how old or how accurate the number was. I called the number and did not receive an
answer.
I sent Dontrice an Axon Link to upload her photographs.
On 11/20/2025 1 was able to run Brian, his driving status showed as Suspended/Revoked 3rd Degree
with a DOL address in Kent WA.
I ran the temporary tag several different ways and was not able to get a return, Dontrice described the
vehicle as a red Honda sedan with a large amount of damage and missing front bumper.
I ran a LINX check on Brian and was not able to locate a red Honda registered to him or involved with
him.
This case does not satisfy the requirement for hit and run unattended.
This case is closed.
