On 12/21/2025 at approximately 2012 hours, I responded to a collision which occurred southwest of the
intersection at 120th AVE SE and SE 184TH ST in the City of Renton, County of King, and the State of
Washington.
Arriving on scene,just south of the intersection I observed a 2013 Chevy Silvarado truck bearing the
License plate of(D81178G) in the ditch.The vehicle had hit a -SPEED BUMP AHEAD-sign, damaging the
base plate and bending the pole.
The damage to the street sign was reported to the appropriate departments.The relating Origami report
for the damage to the street sign was filed under Origami report(I-2025-383).
The vehicle was not on street property and was fully inside of the ditch. It was not blocking the flow of
traffic nor was it on private property.
The vehicle was registered to address, 12205 SE 188TH ST, RENTON WA, 98058,which was 0.2 miles
away from where I located the truck.The registered owner, also registered to that same address was
TAFT,VERNON HENRY(DOB 04-06-1963).
Proceeding to the address 1 contacted Vernon. He stated he was the registered owner of the truck,
however,tonight the vehicle was being used by his son,TAFT, CHRISTOPHER JAMES KALEO (DOB
05-18-1986).Vernon found his son Taft, Chris,who also lived at the address.
Christopher immediately admitted to driving the truck. He stated there had been some issues with the
power steering in the vehicle and stated he was enroute home from Swedish Hospital. Christopher
showed me his right hand which had a significant contusion near the pinky finger and down his hand.
Christpher recorded a signed under the penalty of perjury, recorded statement stating he was operating
the vehicle when the collision occurred and left the scene.
He stated he traveled southbound on 116th Ave Se and turned eastbound on SE 184th ST.At the
intersection of 120th AVE SE and SE 184TH ST, Christopher was unable to take the southbound turn
adequately and with the pain in his hand was unable to properly steer the vehicle, causing it to end up in
the ditch.
This incident occurred in the sCity of Renton,King County,Washington State.

Christopher pointed out on the map to me exactly where he left the vehicle, south of the intersection of
120th AVE SE and SE 184TH ST.
He stated he attempted to get the vehicle out of the ditch for nearly 20 minutes when he gave up and
proceeded to his residence on foot.
Christopher stated he understood that he was supposed to report this and that this case will be treated
as a hit and run and he will be cited. I developed probable cause to cite TAFT, CHRISTOPHER JAMES
KALEO (DOB 05-18-1986)for RCW 46.52.010 Duty on striking unattended (other) property, as
Christopher was involved in an accident resulting in damage to property of the City of Renton without
taking the necessary steps to report.
The relating citation for Christopher is(5A0631920)which was sent to the Renton Prosecuting Attorney's
office. My involvement in this case were captured on my department-issued Axon body camera.This
report is a summary of events that occurred and is not an exact sequencing of events. Statements have
been paraphrased and summarized.At the time of this call, I was in a full police uniform equipped with a
Renton Police badge and police patches.
This concludes my involvement with this case.
