Officer Narrative
Narrative
On 01/06/2026, 1 was working uniformed patrol in a marked police car as 3R23.At approximately
1911 hours, I was dispatched to an unknown injury accident at the intersection of Union Ave
NE/NE 12 St, which is located within the city limits of Renton, County of King, Washington. Later
investigation revealed that this was just a blocking accident with no injuries.
Dispatch advised that a caller reported some type of accident at the location, but was not
answering the call receiver's questions.
When I arrived at the location, I located both vehicles and identified them as listed above as Unit
1 and Unit 2, respectively. I initially saw that both vehicles were blocking the intersection with
Unit 2 facing southbound and Unit 1 facing northbound.
I was able to relocate both units just west of the intersection to restore the flow of traffic.
I was able to speak to the driver of Unit 1 at this time. She was the sole occupant of her vehicle.
She explained the following:
Unit 1 stated she was traveling northbound on Union Ave NE, preparing to turn westbound onto
NE 12th St. Unit 1 stated that she did not see Unit 2 headed southbound on Union, as there is a
tiny hillcrest at the intersection. Unit 1's front driver's side subsequently collided with the
driver's side doors of Unit 2.
1 took a look around Unit 1's vehicle. I noticed that there were some scuffs and small dents on
the front driver's side bumper area of the vehicle. I also noticed that no airbags had deployed in
her vehicle. She also mentioned she did not have a dash camera.
Unit 1 reported no injuries at the time of the collision. She also stated she was wearing her
seatbelt.
I was then able to speak to the driver of Unit 2. She was accompanied by a front passenger as
Listed above.The driver of Unit 2 explained the following:
Unit 2 stated she was headed southbound on Union Ave NE approaching NE 12th St. She was
continuing southbound on Union Ave NE when Unit 1 had struck her driver's side doors while

she was turning onto NE 12th St from northbound Union Ave NE.
I took a look around Unit 2's vehicle. I noticed that there were some scuffs and small dents on
both driver's side door panels. I also noticed that no airbags had deployed in her vehicle. I did
notice that she had a dash camera, but she currently did not have access to any footage. Her
son later arrived and was advised to contact the police if any relevant footage was discovered.
Unit 2 and her passenger reported no injuries at the time of the collision. They both also reported
that they were wearing their seat belts.
I took photos of both vehicles and uploaded them to Evidence.com to be added to the case file.
I also provided both drivers with a Renton PD business card with the associated case number for
their records.
Both vehicles were drivable. I had left the location prior to both vehicles leaving, as they wanted
to speak with each other for longer. Neither vehicle was blocking the flow of traffic when I left
the location.
Based on the totality of the circumstances, it appears that Unit 1 is the proximate cause of the
collision.
