Narrative
During this incident, I was equipped with a body-worn camera, which records both audio and video. Portions
of this incident were recorded. This report is merely a summary of the incident and is not intended to be an
exact transcription of the entire investigation or what may have been captured with the recording system.
was operating a fully marked Police Tahoe#309 which was equipped with overhead emergency lights and
sirens. I was also wearing my department issued Renton Police uniform clearly identifies me as a Police
Officer.
Case Number 26-378
On 01/13/2026 at approximately 2345 hours I was dispatched to a hit and run collision that had occurred at
203 S 2nd St within the City of Renton, King County,Washington.
The victim was identified as Binyam Y Bekele (DOB 02/19/1991), Binyam was driving a 2024 Toyota Rav4
(WA/LIC: CLY6987 VIN#JTMD6RFVORD135301). Binyam had a picture of the suspect vehicle plate which
identified it as 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage (WA/LIC: CUP5273 VIN#ML32A4HJ6FH042860). Binyam described the
driver of the suspect vehicle as a white male, approximately 20 years of age. Binyam was having difficulty
describing the driver but did believe he would be able to identify the driver if he saw him again.
Binyam stated that as he was driving northbound through the parking lot the suspect vehicle pulled out of one
of the parking lanes and collided with the side of his vehicle in a T-bone style collision.The suspect vehicle
proceeded to back up and then flee the scene of the collision northbound on Rainier Ave S.The Rav4 sustained
passenger side damage, and the suspect vehicle would have front end damage.
No injuries were reported and both vehicles were able to leave under their own power.
