Officer Narrative
Narrative
On 01/16/2026, 1 was working uniformed patrol in a marked police car as 3R23.At approximately
0226 hours, I was dispatched to a non-injury-non-blocking accident at the McDonald's at 401 S
Grady Way, which is located within the city limits of Renton, County of King, Washington. Later
investigation revealed that this was a hit-and-run collision.
Dispatch advised that the caller reported an accident at the drive-thru line at the location.The
caller mentioned that the other involved driver was refusing to exchange information.
When I arrived at the call location, I was able to locate the caller.The caller was the driver of
Unit 2. He also had a front passenger with him at the time of the incident. All occupants of Unit 2
were identified at this point as via their Washington state driver's licenses and listed in the
former. I spoke with the occupants of Unit 2 about the incident.They reported the following:
At approximately 0212 hours, Unit 2 had entered the drive-thru line of the McDonald's at the
above-listed location.They mentioned they were in the right-most line just about to pull up to
the order speaker. Suddenly, a vehicle from behind Unit 2 in line had struck the rear passenger
side bumper of their vehicle.
They mentioned that they believed that the driver of Unit 1 would pull out of the drive-through to
meet with them once they exited the line. Once they exited the line, Unit 1 did not stop to
exchange information. Unit 2 stated that Unit 1 left the location westbound on Grady Way.
I took a look around Unit 2. 1 saw that the rear passenger side bumper had some small scuffs
and scrapes. 1 also saw that no airbags had deployed in the vehicle.
Unit 2 and its front passenger reported that they were not injured and had seatbelts on.
Unit 2's driver also provided a description of the driver of Unit 1 as follows:
• A white male, skinny build, approximately 35-45 years old, with a brown capon.
Unit 2's driver mentioned that he believed the driver of Unit 1 had been drinking. He explained
that he could smell the odor of intoxicants and saw that the driver has bloodshot eyes.
This incident occurred in the sCity of Renton,King County,Washington State.

The driver of Unit 2 mentioned he would be able to identify the driver of Unit 1 if he saw him
again.
The driver of Unit 2 also provided a phone number for an unknown female witness in line at the
Location as well. I attempted to contact her via phone to no avail.
Other officers attempted to located Unit 1 to no avail.
At this time, Unit 2 mentioned he did not want to press any criminal charges for any crime. He
requested that a police report be generated for insurance purposes only.
I provided the driver with a Renton PD business card with the associated case number for their
records.
Unit 2 left the location under its own power.
Based on the totality of the circumstances, it appears that Unit 1 is the proximate cause of the
collision.
