EG68746 CASE# 26-223 O OF COLLI 510N TIME 01/08/26 13:38 COLLISION NARRATIVE 26-223 ACCINJ BIKE On 1/8/2026 1 was working as a uniformed patrol officer and driving a marked patrol vehicle for the City of Renton. 1 was dispatched to a report of a collision involving a bicycle with injury near Logan Ave N and N 4th St Renton/King/WA. Several witnesses were calling to report that the vehicle was stopped, and the bicyclist was down with an injury to his ankle. RRFA was dispatched to the scene and was with the bicyclist when I arrived. The bicyclist was verbally identified as Derrick C Brawn DOB: 12/30/1992. 1 was not able to positively identify him as he did not have a WADOL return or photograph. There were several misdemeanors warrants for theft but no physical description. Derrick advised he did not have a phone number either. Derrick had a visible injury to his right ankle; upon closer inspection it appeared to be severe open sores that had began to bleed. It was difficult to determine if there was new injury based on the severity of the open sores. Derrick was transported to VMC for further evaluation. The driver of the 2016 Honda HRV WA/CLZ6349 was identified by her WADL as Jenny R Nguyen DOB: 1/21/2004. Jenny said that she was stopped at the traffic signal facing west on N 4th St waiting to turn north onto Logan Ave N. Jenny said that she was looking to the south waiting for a break in traffic before she entered Logan Ave. Jenny believed she was at a complete stop when Derrick entered the roadway on his bicycle. There was damage to the front passenger side quarter panel of the Honda where Derrick hit it. N 4th St is a one-way westbound street, it is 4-lanes that merges down to 3 before the intersection. The #1 lane turns into a yield lane with a crosswalk in it to turn north on Logan Ave. Jenny had dash camera footage that 1 was able to review. The footage showed that Jenny was stopped waiting to turn, she begins to slowly inch forward when Derrick entered the roadway outside of the crosswalk and struck her vehicle. Derrick was travelling southbound on the sidewalk before he entered the roadway. It did not appear that Derrick slowed or attempted to alter course before striking the Honda.
